Nov 3, 2011 11:49 PM in response to RichieBBBby alexanderfromgöteborg,I have the exact same problem. Before I updated to ios 5 it worked fine, but now the airplay stream just stops when the screen goes to sleep.

Nov 6, 2011 1:15 AM in response to alexanderfromgöteborgby virtualshock,I have this exact issue as well, but I've found that it is app-dependent. For example, on my iPad 2, I can reproduce the problem at will with the PBS app, whereas I can put the iPad to sleep without interrupting the stream for the TED app. On my iPhone 4S, I have the problem with all the apps I've tried, including TED. All of the devices, including my AppleTV (the small black version) are running the latest software.

Nov 6, 2011 3:59 AM in response to RichieBBBby ()z,I have this prob with all my devices - iPhone camera roll playing video shortly after screen goes to sleep AirPlay stops. iPad 4oD same thing - playing to apple tv
AirPlay is useless in this state
I am sure it used to work - perhaps it does with some apps - will have to try and see if there is a pattern

Nov 12, 2011 11:59 AM in response to Sundog66by alexanderfromgöteborg,I don't think it's the OS, the TED application for iPad 2 works great with AirPlay and locking the screen. Very strange.

Nov 16, 2011 4:42 PM in response to RichieBBBby davidfromcarrabelle,no 5.01 did not fix this anyone else had any luck? crappy work around is to check "sleep" "never" in settings but forget about multi tasking and does anyone know if this can harm iPad screen...leaving same thing on it for a two hour movie on AirPlay? it was so awesome

Nov 20, 2011 1:25 AM in response to RichieBBBby fghibli,I have exactly the same issue with iPad2/OS 5.0.1 and Apple TV 2/OS 4.4.3(3323), it happens with all video applications and browsers in both cases, e.g. auto locking or swithing to another application.
The issue doesn't happen before I upgrade to iOS 5, this really *****, it makes the Airplay completely useless!
I can't believe this stupid bug doesn't be found by the QA tests, they're making cool features like Airplay Mirror, but they made Airplay unable to use at the same time.
I wish it could be fixed in 5.0.1 update but "NO", so now I would have to wait for 5.0.2. I really hope somebody in Apple's engineering team is looking at this forum and post, since this is the first time I'm posting here and I don't hope it unresponded...

Nov 22, 2011 9:52 PM in response to fghibliby Guyza,A short term fix for this problem is to set your iPad Auto Lock to never. Works for me. Just don't forget to set it back to your previous setting, or you will flatten your battery quicktime.

Nov 23, 2011 5:51 AM in response to RichieBBBby fghibli,Good news, I updated Apple TV firmware to 5.0.1 yesterday, the issue disapears! Neither lock screen or switching to another application will trigger the issue any more, amazing!
NOTE: My iPad2 firmware is also 5.0.1, just FYI.

Nov 23, 2011 6:24 AM in response to fghibliby AustinFrance,They must be rolling out peice meal because I just get 'Your Apple TV is up to date.' version 4.4.3 (3323)
4.4.3 only came out a week or so ago - so are you sure you've given the correct version number?

Unless you have installed a developer preview/beta I don't see how you can be running 5.0.1 on ATV.
