You can't. There is no file storage facility like iDisk in iCloud. Only iWork compatible files.
You'll have to use a service like Dropbox.
Sorry. I'm inexperienced with discussions. Do you mean that it is against the rules to change it if you marked it incorrectly, or that the forum software doesn't have the capability to make the changes?
The software won't allow it.
Hello
thats what doesnt work for me. If I open a pdf ib ibooks, i can see the document under PDF, but it doesnt sync it via icloud to my other iOS devices. Any ideas why I have this problem? Thanks
This isn't working for me. iBook pdf files aren't syncing between my iPhone and my iPad.
It is a very limited list of document types that the iCloud will accept and that does not include PDFs. For me, that makes the iCloud useless for documents as most of mine are PDFs. The iCloud is not a patch on MobileMe in that respect.

What do you mean?
MobileMe was the previous Apple cloud system that is being phased out to make way for the iCloud. That system had no limits on the kind of documents it would take and it certainly took PDFs.
I am fully aware of MobileMe having been a member for many years!
I was asking what you meant by 'iCloud is not a patch on MobileMe in that respect'.
If you are referring to iDisk, then iCloud was never intended to replace that functionality, and it was announced a long time ago, that iDisk and Galleries would be discontinued next year.
So, if you were expecting that functionality in iCloud, then I guess you'd be disappointed. However, as I said, that was/is never the intention of iCloud. There are many alternative free cloud services, like Dropbox, that will do what you want.
iCloud has another major distinction from MM, and that is - it's free.
I think you'll find that having all the facilites within iCloud plus a service like Dropbox is a major improvement over the flaky, $99-a-year service provided by MM.
I am aware of the alternatives. Perhaps I mis-understood the original question, which I thought was aksing about stroring PDFs on the iCloud. Nothng you say avoids the fact that many documents in this world are PDFs and to create a new cloud system that will not store such documents is somewhat short-sighted.
Sorry, I don't know what you mean - again. iCloud is NOT (nor ever was it intended to be) a cloud system to store documents. It is intended to be a facility to sync your devices. Think of it as a holding tank.
If you think otherwise, then I'm afraid you are incorrect, and your criticism is misplaced.
You have free alternatives to do what you need like Dropbox as we have discussed. I don't really see what your issue is. Why do you need 2 document storage facilites?
OK, 'store' was the wrong word. The iCloud has the facility to sync documents of the 'Pages', 'Keynote', 'Numbers' and even 'MS Office' types in the section 'iWork'. Why not sync PDFs also? Additionally I haven't said that I need one or more storage facilities. Furthermore, I was, as I thought and as already said, simply responding to a question about storing (syncing) PDFs. I really did not want to get into a major discussion.
The OP's question had already been answered many posts prior to yours, and the post that you responded to was talking about iBooks syncing.
iCloud document syncing is based on iOS devices. You need to have iWorks for iOS installed for it to work. It is not intended to sync documents between computers in the way that iDisk or Dropbox does. It will only accept documents that iWorks will open.
Now, that may change. Maybe more apps will support 'Documents in iCloud' in the future, but for now it cannot be done.
My point about more than one storage facility was based on the fact that you can use Dropbox to do what you need now, so why do you also want it to happen in iCloud? You would get no benefit if you want a iDisk-type of service.
I agree with everyting you say there.
Apparently, I was mistaken in my earlier post. One can open PDF files in iBooks, but unlike the actual books, the PDF files don't sync. The only way I can see to make PDF files available on all platforms is to use something like dropbox. I also use GoodReader, which does a good job of automatically syncing PDF (and many other file formats) that are stored in a Dropbox folder.
Sorry if I misled anyone and sent you on a wild goose chase.
