When i change info in itunes it doesn't change on the iphone.

Hi all,

I was putting some old mp3s onto my iphone and a few didnt have the artists name in the info section, so they don't show up when I browse by artist. I edited the info in itunes like I used to with my iPod touch but the changes don't appear in my phone. Has anyone encountered this problem? Any advice?

thanks

I too have this problem now. For some reason when I change album artists it won't update on my iphone!

EG - On my iTunes I have 2 Florence and the Machine albums, The artist names (on iTunes) show Florence And The Machine. Yet, on my iPhone it shows up with 2 different artists!

1 = Florence And The Machine

2 = Florence + The Machine

I've know idea why this would happen, anyone know a fix?

I actually called Apple about this and they said it simply cannot be changed on the Iphone. What you have to do is delete the songs fomr the phone, then before putting them back on drag them to your library, change them in the library, then put the songs on the Iphone, with the correct info, from the library.

I have the exact problem on itunes 10.5.2 for mac and iphone ios 5.0.1. havent tried the window version yet. I dont want to change the info of the songs in my computer, only want put certain songs into the same album in my iphone. before I update itunes and ios, it could be easily done, no problem. but now cannot. wondering if it is a bug.

i had this problem a while ago.

In fact i had this problem about 5 seconds ago.

I was getting all these songs with Artist ft Artist 2 when i didn't need or want that.

After rebooting, resyncing, renaming ALOT of items etc... i gave up.

I then replugged it back into my iMac, made a new playlist on the ipod touch, then i closed the music app on the multi-task bar.

I then synced it from the main screen, and then after waiting for a while - the new playlist was there and all the artists were fixed... i have no idea what i did, but it's worth noting that since you can still play music on IOS5 while it is syncing, it's best to just turn off the music app.

BTW - I don't sync music from itunes library - i manually manage my music...

The phone did what it was designed to do archaic or not.

How is the phone suppose to decide that you had the info incorrect.

Your next post would be Itunes is cleaning house without you knowing.

Delete the library and sync it back , or delete the album and sync it back /

Seems pretty straight forward , don't know what so Flint Stones about that.

Peace

No, that is BS. I get music manually from several different computers, and I spent hours organizing it perfectly through iTunes, on my iPod touch (3rd Generation 32 GB iPod Touch, MC model). I shouldn't have to go back to each computer and individually redo the information in the libraries then resync the music to my iPod. It should be like it used to where you change it on the iTunes, and the change is then synced to the iPod. I will file a complaint, and have all my contacts also file complaints for this. In any case, Apple needs to come up with a quick solution. Many complaints eventually leads to lawsuits and lost business. As a marketing major, I know that Apple has to understand that.

Yeah, their official mailing address is 1 Infinite Loop Cupertino, CA 95014. That is Apple's capital establishment, but I doubt they'd actually take any complaints if you just mailed them there. You can try sending them via email, directly from this site. That usually works. Good luck, I'm sick of these problems too.

I have the same problem with ITunes , I just can't edit any song name or the Genre etc. I mean it does let me edit the name but when I enter the same track again to see if the changes have had any effect ? I get the old name of the track back again .

As I'm new to mac I don't know if It's me or thare is a problem with this issue ?

why don't apple listen to what their customers are saying ?

I don't know what i did the other day but here's my situation.

I own a macbook - and only until recently did i like iTunes for handling all my music (this is because my music collection is over 50GB, and my HDD didn't have enough space - but a second hdd instead of the disc drive helped that).

Anyway - i added my huge collection of songs onto my iTunes. I renamed them to my liking.

With my iPod touch, i manually manage my music, and quite frankly i think i will sync them the if i ever get the chance to do it over again. With manually managing music - if i rename the songs on my ipod on itunes - they don't apply when i go to listen to them. I had a problem with it when i had 6 of the same artist, and an artist beginning with a different character than listed (i.e. Timbaland listed under F).

When i had all my music library on my Macbook's iTunes - i deleted the affected songs, and then i dragged and dropped the ones from my iTunes library straight into my iPod Touch. This somehow fixed the renaming situation and now my songs are properly renamed.

I hope this helps some of you guys.

It's also maybe worth noting that sometimes by default - Apple Groups By Album Artist in the settings.

Hi everyone, I'm currently having the same problem and i've been reading a lot online about it and it seems is a problem within the iOS 5 and iOS5.1.1.

There are solutions that only helps in short term, because as you upload a new song to your device the problem will come all over again.

I wonder if there is a solution to this problem, that Apple had come with, or if anyone know if the new iOS 6 will fix this bug, because I have over a 1000 songs on my iPod touch and i don't have that music on my mac book, and it would be also a pain in the ash to have to deal with the MP3 file, instead to do it the way it was possible to do it before apple came with the new iOS 5.

I wonder actually if anyone knows if there is a way to go back to the previous iOS 4, which allowed to work the songs information in itunes.

I will appreciate any comments

Select all of the songs that you want to have the same artist name, left click and select get info, then click info, then make the artist name AND album artist name the same (whatever you want the artist name to be). Then sync your device and it should fix it.
