purchases not appearing in "Purchased" under "Updates" in App Store

I have ios 5.0 on an iphone 4. When I click the App Store icon and then "Updates" at the bottom of the screen and then click "Purchased", nothing shows up. All my apps had transfered over successfully during the migration to ios 5 from ios 4.3. however I removed one app and now I want to reinstall it. However under "Purchased" apps nothing shows up.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a resolution?

One other caveat: I had an old mobile me account which I did not want to use and could not get the verification email sent to my current Apple ID automatically. When I called Apple support, the representative was able to manually send me the verification email to the Apple Id I am currently using (not mobile me ID) and the install went fine from that point forward. Also, all of the 33 apps on my iphone were purchased with the this Apple ID (not the mobile me ID).

Update:

OK, after not hearing back from Apple support "Engineer" for a few days, I decided to conduct a few experiments. I have an old apple id that I have not used in quite some time. I decided to login to the Apple Store on the iphone using the old apple id (its an @mac.com id). I then went to the icloud settings and set up icloud with this old apple id as well ... wouldn't you know it the "All" and "Not On this iphone" tabs under "Purchased" are now working exactly as you would expect them to!! My current Apple id is a "@gmail.com" id. Is apple purposely creating this bug to get people to use their @mac.com id's if they have them?? Or does icloud only work correctly if you use the first apple id you ever had??

My above experiment indicates a number of things:

1) there is no issue with my iphone hardware.

2) the cause of this issue lies firmly with the icloud/itunes/istore database/software.

3) either the apple support team is incompetent or apple is deliberately attempting to conceal this problem from the public.

Update:

I spoke too soon!! After briefly (about 3 minutes) having the "All" and "Not On this iphone" tabs under "Purchased" working exactly as you would expect them to using the mac.com id, they now do not!! Both tabs now seem to display only what you would expect to find on the "Not On this iphone". I'll post again if this changes again (as it appears to be quite unstable).

Update:

As of about 3 minutes ago, I checked the "All" tab under Updates > Purchased section of the iphone Apple Store app and magically it is suddenly displaying exactly as you would expect: all of my apps regardless of whether they are installed or not. Better yet, for the first time I am finally able to rate an app since first purchasing an iphone four years ago!! So the issue seems to be fully resolved for me except for a few caveats:

1) I am now using my original "@mac.com" apple id. I do not know if the issue would still be resolved using my "@gmail.com" apple id which was my original preference.

2) the feature seems to be highly unstable. I do not know if it will be working in an hour from now let alone a week from now.

For the above two reasons I do not consider this bug resolved. I don't currently have time to test (1) above and I will not feel comfortable saying (2) is resolved until it is working for at least two weeks.

If anyone else has any other updates, please post them.

So I was having the same problem, but I managed to fix it and here is how. Hopefully it helps some of you.

in iTunes on my MacBook I went to the menu item "store -> view my acount". On this page there is a section called "iTunes in the Cloud" which showed I had some hidden purchases. Not sure how I originally hide them but after unhiding them via the "View Hidden Purchases" link in this section, they all showed up on my iPhone under the "Updates -> Purchased" section the next time I checked.
