purchases not appearing in "Purchased" under "Updates" in App Store

I have ios 5.0 on an iphone 4. When I click the App Store icon and then "Updates" at the bottom of the screen and then click "Purchased", nothing shows up. All my apps had transfered over successfully during the migration to ios 5 from ios 4.3. however I removed one app and now I want to reinstall it. However under "Purchased" apps nothing shows up.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a resolution?

One other caveat: I had an old mobile me account which I did not want to use and could not get the verification email sent to my current Apple ID automatically. When I called Apple support, the representative was able to manually send me the verification email to the Apple Id I am currently using (not mobile me ID) and the install went fine from that point forward. Also, all of the 33 apps on my iphone were purchased with the this Apple ID (not the mobile me ID).

Touchy!

Why are you "touchy" about being disagreed with?

Does your server problem have an e.t.a. on a fix?

"Your server"?? Like everyone else in this forum, I'm an iPhone user like yourself. Apple doesn't participate here - this site is strictly user-to-user tech support.

Is this a cosmetic issue, or do we need to use some other method to update

It's "cosmetic" in the sense that you already know which apps are on your phone, right? The important list is those NOT on the phone, so that you can redownload deleted or missing apps for free. I never understood the need for the ALL list displayed on the phone.

As this is an Apple server problem, only Apple could correct it. Nothing you can do other than report it on the link I provided.

OK, just to clarify I updated to ios 5 a week ago and should not have taken a week for App Store to recognize what I have purchased and what I have not purchased.

As explained in an earlier post, the All and Not on This Phone lists were correct until sometime this weekend. They now are the same - both are actually the Not-on-This-Phone list. Since it was working with iOS 5 earlier, the only valid conclusion can be that the problem is at Apple's end.

For me, the above statement is not true. Both the lists are the same, that is true. However the list that I have represents neither the "All" apps nor the "not on this phone" apps. Both lists are empty but I have 33 installed apps and 20 uninstalled apps!

I have posted the bug to the link you provided earlier.

The link to post hoc fallacy was unnecessarily patronizing and inapplicable to diagnosing computer issues, so I assumed I hit a nerve. When something stops working, you first look at what changed.

Being so definite that you knew the REAL reason misled me that you might have something more than a guess to back you up - my bad...

It appears that anything uninstalled and reinstalled after iOS5/iTunes upgrade no longer shows as "installed" when you search for the app - even if you did that uninstall a week ago. Not an issue if it's free, not sure about the computer version.

If you want to see the full info on an app you have installed and check for updates, you'd better hope that app has a unique name or a good "help" page because the "All" tab isn't working. Solitaire app users, beware!

I'm having the exact same issues as all of you. Glad I'm not alone! My Purchased list was fine until yesterday when I tried to view it as usual and it took very long and kept having trouble loading. Then, it finally came up but with only two of a few dozen apps. Weird, as I have more than two app. So I deleted the two from the oddly abridged list because they were ones that I had "deleted" (I know it doesn't truly delete as it leaves an imprint in the history) from iPhone and so now I am similarly left with the "All of your available apps have been downloaded to this device." message on both the All and Not On This Phone tabs. I sent in my feedback as posted by Andrewdoc74 posted above. Plan to call Apple tech support when they open today, too. Hope we all get help soon!!

Oh excllent that you are calling Apple Tech support - I'm guessing you have Apple Care? Could you post the tech's response to this please? That would be very much apprecitated

I'd recommend anyone who has Apple Care to call and report this as well as filling in the online forms.

I was hoping the recent iOS 5 update would have sorted this bug out (and the length of time this has gone on proves it's a bug as far as I am concerned and not a "server issue")

Hope they fix this soon, it's quite irritating and putting me off buying any more apps until it is sorted!

You got it, Andrewdoc74! And yes, I have Apple Care but even without it, I would have called. I guess there are far more serious issues but this just is an annoying inconvenience nontheless. I will definitely let you all know what they say. Hope I get a particularly astute tech!

Good point, I totally agree that I had hoped that bugs 👿 like this would have been straightened out by the iOS 5.0.1 update overnight. But no, no such luck, right?

I will repost as soon after my call with them.

So far, I have spend over an hour with their Senior Advisor. I'm sure this person's lack of comunication skills doesn't help (he likes to sound like a robot and also doesn't have his listening ears on) but between "senior" tech support and iTunes support (two are speaking among each other while I'm on hold), they claim they have never heard of this issue all together - as in, I must be the only one experiencing it. Oy vey... I'll update if I get anywhere with them. But like I said, so far NO good!

Nov 12, 2011 7:25 AM in response to chachita176

Thanks for updating us - and yes, not very good on Apple's part. Give them the link to this discussion if you can - will show that there are people experiencing this problem! If I were well enough I would go to my local Apple store to the genius bar to make a point of it. Will have to wait to see if I get a good day in the next few weeks or months (though hopefully they will fix it by then!)

So the way this concluded for the time being with Apple is that I am to try having someone I know with an iTunes account sign on in my Store (Settings > Store) on my phone to see the following:

1. If the Purchased list does show up for the other person, then it may be indicative of an iTunes issue with my account.

They told me to file an issue with iTunes via Apple.com and they will work with me via email to troubleshoot. (You can't speak to iTunes people live.)

2. If the Purchased list does not show up for the other person as well, then it may point to a device issue. If this the case, then I am to call Apple back and reference my case # so they can walk me through reinstalling iOS after I back up my phone.

I'll share anything else once I gain progress... Hopefully!

Status update:

1) Talked to itunes support, after an hour of messing about they acknowledged there was a problem but that I had to call iphone support.

2) talked to iphone support person named Jessica who also acknowledged a problem and is in contact with an "engineer" who is looking into it. I'll post again when I hear back from her.

Nov 12, 2011 1:52 PM in response to marc289

Reasons why this bug is more than just a "cosmetic" issue:

1) I am not able to rate any apps I purchased which seems to be related to this issue somehow

2) If I am away from my Mac, I can not reinstall an app unless I pay for it again!

3) If I am away from my Mac and I accidentally uninstall an app, there is no way to get it back!

4) If I am away from my Mac and can not recall if I oriiginally purchased an app or not, I may end up buying it again by mistake!

Nov 12, 2011 2:57 PM in response to marc289

@ Marc289 and @ chachita176 - thanks for posting as to how you are getting on with this. I'm UK based and as far as I know I the only phone support here is for people with Apple Care or who are in the first 90 days of thier iphone ownership.

So if this is an iphone issue I would have to go to the "local" (50miles away) apple store as I have 1 month left of 12 month warrenty. Am not to bad with computer stuff though so if instructions are good I could easily do a back up and reinstall iOS 5 if need be I think

What is weird for me is that this was working fine after the install but the problem showed about a week later It think as I noticed it when I was randomly looking through the functions of iCloud

Keep me posted on all this - very much appreicated!
