MacBook Pro is going into sleep mode randomly

Hi there

I hope someone knows a fix to this problem. About two weeks ago my MacBook Pro started randomly going to sleep - even as I'm typing. It happens almost hourly.

I tried setting the energy saver to never on screensaver and discs, but it has not stopped the problem.

It started happening around the time I downloaded version 10.7.2, and updated iTunes to 10.5

I've had the MacBook for about a year and haven't noticed anything like this before.

If anyone else has experienced it or knows a fix, that would be much appreciated.

Wow, as I read that, I took my phone off the palmrest and it immediately went to sleep. Thank you!

Thank you! This sleep mode problem on my MacBook Pro has been driving me crazy. After reading your note I realized that I had placed a small back-up drive within an inch of my MBP. What a relief!

I had the same problem; magnet on my money clip. When I move it near the magnetized power connector the Powerbook goes to sleep.
