Roland PC-300, not supported by Lion?

Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me. The closest I ve come is by modifying Yves' source code with my kMyProductID (0x0033), then I can see my MIDI device on the MIDI studio but with no port, which doesn't work…

Which PCR do you use? Is it the 300, 500 or 800?

Did you try compiling with Xcode Yves' source code fist or directly downloaded this plugin?

I've found a simple fix: reboot your system in 32 bit mode 🙂

(you can do it simply holding the 3 and 2 buttons while rebooting).

You'll find that then the pc-300 will work just fine!!

I don't know in detail the difference between 32 and 64 bit mode, but there's no risk for your data and the general performances look to me quite the same.

There is a very simple - almost too easy - way to get the PC-300 running under ANY platform:

Forget USB and use MIDI! 🙂

Okay, you need a MIDI interface or a soundcard with a MIDI connection. In my case it's the Komplete Audio 6 USB device which has a MIDI output.

I consider this to be the ideal solution which is future proof. You just don't have to mess around with old drivers or depend on the manufacturer to release new ones.

It's as simple as that - hope this helps!

P.S.: The linked drivers mentioned before are for the PCR-300 which is a completely different device. They are not working with the PC-300.

One can also use the following driver:

It works with Mac OS X 10.8.2 (64 bit). Read the README on how to compile and install the driver.

Problem with this is that one must know C++ and how to compile in XCODE, yada, yada. Can't someone do that for the musicians here and make it availabl? It would be a big help.

The driver can be installed without knowing any C++ with the following procedure:

- download and install XCode (https://developer.apple.com/xcode/)

- download the zip folder containing GenericUSBMIDI

- open GenericUSBMIDI.xcodeproj in XCode

- push the "Play" button in XCode to compile the code

- copy the resulting GenericUSBMIDI.plugin file to /Library/Audio/MIDI\ Drivers/

- reboot

Altough I do not guarantee that it works and shall not be liable for potential damages that this procedure causes.

Just wanted to let you know, this worked PERFECTLY for me. While there are a ton of warnings during the build, the resulting plugin works exactly as advertised. Thanks so much for your effort, as a fine MIDI controller can now continue to do the same great job it has for many years.
