Roland PC-300, not supported by Lion?

After upgraded to Lion, and trying to reinstall the Roland driver, it's a no go.

When I tried to "uninstall", I get a message about, not supporting Power PC stuff.

That make sense? Is there a fix?

Thanks

Hi there,

I'm trying to get my PC-300 working with Snow Leopoard 10.6.8.

Unable to compile the plugin though - All 'run' options in Xcode are greyed out. I think it's because my Xcode version is 3.2.4. Will the current plugin source work with Xcode 4.2? Or does anyone have an older version of the plugin (or source) for 10.6.8?

Cheers,

Olaf

This worked for me on Mavericks. Make sure you put the GenericUSBMIDI.plugin file into the Library>Audio>MIDI Drivers folder for the system and not the user. It will not work otherwise. You may also need to trash the RDUSB0008Midi plug-in too.

- download and install XCode (https://developer.apple.com/xcode/)

- download the zip folder containing GenericUSBMIDI

- open GenericUSBMIDI.xcodeproj in XCode

- push the "Play" button in XCode to compile the code

- copy the resulting GenericUSBMIDI.plugin file to /Library/Audio/MIDI\ Drivers/

- reboot

Hey Mr Wilson DJ,

I'm trying this fix on my MBP 2013 on Yosemite 10.10.1 and it doesn't seem to be working. The only plugin in my Library > Audio > MIDI Drivers is the one made in Xcode... and when i look in Audio Midi Setup, the device doesn't appear.

Strangely though, my two other midi keyboards do appear in Audio Midi Setup, however their .plugin files don't seem to exist? Thinking this is either because they're just standard plug n play keyboards or perhaps i'm not in the right directory?

Any tips?

Cheers 🙂

OK then, here's a "ready baked" driver.

My driver for PC-300, working fine on late 2013 MBP Mavericks 10.9.5 is available in my dropbox at https://www.dropbox.com/sh/oonzuhyk9nul7ny/AABd_aszy457kCQY07WP8Mu_a?dl=0 Giving me a fine flow of MIDI data and power over USB.

Stick it in MacHD-Library-Audio-MIDI Drivers, reboot and you should be away. I had to remove other drivers from that folder and bring them in 1 by 1 as I had a conflict - possibly because I'd previously Roland's most recent (but now ancient) driver.

All credit to Yves!!!

We can't expect manufacturers to maintain drivers to support old hardware they no longer make as operating systems change around us. Yves has done a superb thing for us all!
