I can download from the handycam to a PC, but not to the Imac. Is there a problem, or am I just not doing it correctly? I have used other video cameras to download video to the mac. I go to import, but the handycam doesn't show up as an option to dowload to.

The specs for that camera state that it is not compatable with Mac OS X so it will not download.
They also state that it is not compatable with operating systems running in a virtual environment.
So able your only solutions are to sell it and get somethingh that is compatable or install W7 with BootCamp.
Sony seems to believe that Macs don't exist.

Above, Apple lists the sony camcorder's that are compatible. Are you recording in 60P by any chance?
I just got a Sony SLT A65 that works great with my Mac, but not in 60P mode.

hughmass, is exactly right mentioning 1080 @ 60p as being a potential culprit. One option might be to use a conversion utility to re-wrap your footage into a format iMovie will accept. One example of these types of converters is ClickWrap (http://www.divergentmedia.com/clipwrap) and Voltaic HD (http://www.shedworx.com/voltaichd)
I have a new sony HDR CX110. I cannot download from the camera to the iMac with the usb cable.
