iPhone 4S back panel coming off

I got the 4S on launch day. Aside from being plagued by poor battery performance, last night I noticed the back panel seems to be loose.

I was cleaning my phone and noticed a ticking sound everytime i squeeze it in the lower left corner. this also happens when i set it down on a flat surface. Clearly the glass panel is loose because when i squeeze the side of my phone it makes that sound everytime and i can see the panel moving down into the side of the phone.

The bad battery is one thing but poor assembley is even worse. I would go to an Apple store but the nearest one is 2 /12 hours away. So I called Customer support and was informed that there is a 14 day return period but I would have to wait for that to expire before they could send me a new phone. What kind of sense does that make?

I have been a very loyal Apple user for 15 years and owned every iPhone version since 2007. But I am seriously beginning to wonder if Apple even cares about quality anymore.
