iPhone 4S camera and camera roll plethora of bugs

I took a picture with my iPhone 4S and it froze on the shutter so I had to reset my phone. When it restarted the camera and camera roll have a plethora of problems. Some of the pics in my camera roll were just black thumbnails which were completely lost, others were gray squares which when you click Edit you can see the picture but otherwise it remains a gray square. Also when I take pictures I can see it at the time but when I come back it either becomes a gray square or pixelated. In the camera roll itself pics often repeat, and it's basically become nonfunctional. I am very disappointed to run into these issues while traveling with a brand new phone... Has anyone encountered anything like this? Resets don't do anything, but Im really hoping once I connect to my laptop I can get this resolved.

Same problem. Grey sqaures. Repeated pics. Low rez previews. Freezing camera. Started after iOS5 on iPhone4, updating via the iCloud.

No solutions found so far.

FYI I was able to retrieve my photos by using my iPad and Photo Stream. I restored my phone to a backup that was made previous to the camera crash and that seems to have solved the problem (fingers crossed). I hope I don't encounter this problem again, and I also hope Apple recognizes and addresses these problems because it seems like a LOT of people have run into them.

Dapark: This may be a stupid question, but is there a way to restore to a previous backup that is not the most recent? I think I restored to a backup that was created post camera crash.

When you click Restore in iTunes there was a page where I could select which backup I wanted to restore it from. I think there were radio buttons like "Restore as new iPhone" or "Restore from previous backups" and the previous backups listed previous ones by date.

There seems to be. A bug in the initial release of the 4s. Mine locked up and I lost a day or o f photos and video. I restored as a new hone and it has been stellar since.

I tried using iExplorer and ran into the following problems:

They wanted me to remove

► com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist

► Photos.sqlite

► PhotosAux.sqlite

I only saw Photos.sqlite on the phone. Anyone else?

Followup to my own reply:

I deleted the following file

► Photos.sqlite

and it works now.

I have the exact same problem but I am running iOS 5 on an iPhone 4. I had to restore to a new configuration to resolve it. This was a great inconvenience to say the least. I hope this software bug in iOS5 is fixed in the upcoming patch.

Same thing happened to me today. Phone was working great taking pictures of my baby and videos. Pictures I took disappeared then turned black what's going on my wife's is the same too.
