iRig Mic not working with MacBook

Just bought the iRig Mic - it works perfectly well with my iPhone 4.

But when connected to Garageband '11 on my MacBook (10.6.8), I can't get any sound out of it. I plugged the mic into the 3.5mm mic-in port, and also tried the headphones port as well - no sound from either attempt.

I did go into Settings, and I selected the input sound source. No sound.

Any advice on this pls?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 2.2GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo, RAM 4GB

There may be a way to make some kind of adapter that would separate the in and out of the imic and route them into the input and output of the mac. This may not be practical.

You could also use the iRig with a ios device like intended and use a 1/8" stereo cable from the iRig headphone jack to the the mac's input. If you have any ikmultimedia apps on your ios device this could be a plus.
