Unable to tether iOS 5 to Lion over bluetooth

I think it´s an iOS 5 problem, not Lion´s.

Try to reset the network settings on your iPhone. (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Networking Settings).

It worked here and I saw other forums with this solution.

I tend to disagree. I've tried my iOS 5 iphone 4 with my friend's Snow Leopard laptop. Worked like it was meant to. =(

It might be a bit of both I guess. Will try resetting the settings. Do you know if that will erase my network profiles that I have installed ?

I reset the iPhone settings yesterday, with no success... Guess it's a bit more complex than that.

I think its a Lion thing. I am able to tether over Bluetooth to iPad and over USB to Lion but no Bluetooth. I have 3GS with iOS 5 and Lion 7.2. I was able to tether bluetooth with with ios 5 prior to Lion upgrade.

Even tho I reset the network, it won't work...

But I've tried something like this:

1) I connected my iphone 3gs (IOS5) with my iMac (Snow) thru BT.

2) 1 connection showed on my phone.

3) I connect my MBA (lion) to my iphone thru BT.

4) 2 connections showed on my phone.

5) IT WORKS!

Why?! I just dunno why?

I am not going to take my laptop with me while I am travelling on bus... But I do need the tethering to internet. So I am pretty sure it's the Lion problem too... NOT COOL!

BUT THEN EVERYTHING IN MY PHONE WOULD DISAPPEAR.... -_-" WOULD THERE BE ANOTHER METHOD?

Don't know if this can helps you out but i've got my 3GS iOS5 and Snow Leopard and i've pretty much your same issues.

I can teather via bluetooth but not via USB.

Every time i connect the phone to the macbook pro SL opens up Network preferences and suggests me to configure the phone. But i can't figure out WHAT i need to configure....

Iphone 3gs ios 5.0.1 & MBP Lion 10.7.2. Bluetooth tethering not working (also with an ipad), but usb tethering was ok!

Resetting iPhone network settings worked for me too!

I did a network reset but still when i plug the phone via USB i cann't succeed in getting the phone connections.

This is one of those things about Apple that works well under windows rather then Apple products.

Reseting network setting did not work for Bluetooth. Why is Robo's answer labelled as the correct one? What is a factory reset? Is that more than reseting the network settings?

Well I went back up the list to find Roleiko:

And indeed it does work, but I had to Forget the device on my macbook and re-setup the pairing, from the Bluetooth PAN setup in Network Settings on the Mac.

I have Bluetooth tethering again, thanks folks. This is confusing as Heck!

I still have problems tethering. It works for a couple of seconds, then don't, then does, and so on. Anyone with the same problem?
