Unable to tether iOS 5 to Lion over bluetooth

I upgraded both my 3gs to iOS 5 and my MBA to Lion. Since then I have not been able to use internet tethering over bluetooth. Now I'm not sure what may be causing this.

Observations:

1) USB tethering works

2) Bluetooh pairing and PAN seem to work. I even get an IP Address.

What I've tried:

1) Recreating all network settings on the Air

2) Repairing the bluetooth connection

3) Restarting all devices.

What could be causing this? Was it my upgrade to iOS 5, or my upgrade to Lion, or both?

I have been unable to find anyone else in my current situation.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

I've an update for what is my situation:

Snow Leopard, i've installed an SSD instead of the usual 5400rpm HDD, so this mean that i've reinstalled the entire OS.

Started with teathering via bluetooth, no problems as before, after that i tried again connecting my iphone via USB cable. SL does recognize (in network preferences) the phone connected but tells me is not well recognized. I then have clicked on Apply button (Network preferences) and after 2 seconds the phone was connected to the internet teathering the connection to the macbook pro.

So i've tried configuring another Network location, instead of the Automatic one tryed before.

Same behaviour: inside network preferences the system does see the phone but was not able to teather until i click on the Apply button.

This is my personal experience with Snow Leopard, dunno if this trick applies also under Lion.

Hope this helps somene

To those (Roleiko) who suggested resetting the network settings on the iPad (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Networking Settings), that worked for me too.

I had the same problem as some other posters: personal hotspot worked over USB and Wifi, but not Bluetooth. It would _look_ like it had connected on bluetooth (ipad shows "1 connection" and mac gets an IP address) but I could not ping the gateway (for me this was 172.20.10.1 - do a "netstat -rn" to check). After resetting network settings on iPad as above, I can ping gateway and the hotspot works great over bluetooth.

Cheers everyone.

P.S. I am on iOS 5.1, Mac OS 10.7.3. On the 3rd gen iPad on Verizon. I set up this iPad from a backup from an iPad 2 - I wonder if some bad network setting came from that (just speculating).

I have an iOS 5.1 3GS connected to a MacBook Lion 10.7.3. The problem is that Personal Hotspot connects my iPhone to Macbook but there is no internet connection. I can also see that there is an IP address assigned to the Macbook. What I did to solve the problem is to follow the steps from: http://osxdaily.com/2011/11/06/lion-wi-fi-problems-solution-mac/ - make a new Network Location and then add the Bluetooth or USB connection of the iPhone.
