iPhone 4s won't connect to home WiFi

My new iPhone connects to the wifi at work without any problems. At home, though I have tried many times and can't get connected. My home wireless router is a Linksys E2000. My MacBook Pro connects to both work and home wifi without a problem. So, I know the iPhone's wifi unit isn't dead and I know my home wifi isn't dead.

The iPhone sees my home network, and allows me to enter a password to connect. Then the status indicator by the network name just spins until the phone goes into power-save mode.

Things I have tried:

- reset iPhone network settings

- toggled iPhone WiFi on and off after changing router settings

- set router to channel 9

- changed router to channel "auto"

- set router to channel 11

- eliminated wireless security login requirement on router

- set router to N only

- set router to Mixed network mode

- set router channel width to 20MHz

- set router channel width to Auto 20/40MHz

- made sure router is not using MAC address filtering

Hi All

Anyone have a solution for the iPhone not seeing any network at all. I just get the spinning ball.

I first noticed it at home last night and now at work the same thing. I doubt if its a security protocol issue because it has worked for a year without a glitch on multiple wifi networks at work (eduRoam), home, friends places and other countries. Also there hasnt been an iOS update for a while so no reason for it to stop working overnight.

I have tried everything: wifi on off, reset network settings, cellular data off to force the network to connect.

Nothing. It cant see any network. I am reluctant to reset the whole phone as it appears the internal network component has just died.

If I was a cynic i would think its because the iPhone 4S is 3 days out of warranty LOL.

Not using a 4S, just a 4. Came home and had to go cellular. Tried power off on phone= NFG, tried power off phone modem, and wifi router=NFG, tried reselcting home wifi as "other"=NFG. Checked "edit page of home wifi and found it had no address info. tried reset on modem= yee-haw!

before doing modem reset, if it matters, I powered off phone, modem and wifi router. powered up and bingo!

FYI prior to issue all was working well on work wifi, checked and found could laptop could use home wifi, phone did cellular/3G but no home wifi....

in short: if device was woorking on wifi but then stopped on home wifi try full-on reset/power off boogie.

Ok, I had to reset my network settings today, after booting up I get incorrect password when trying to connect to my home wifi. Also interestingly, my itunes password wasn't recognised either and had to reset it.

Something funny going on, no time to diagnose now, going on hols in an hour.

Typical crappy apple buggy software again I think.

after trying everything on this thread I went to settings>Wi-fi>(i) on my current wifi>Renew Lease

This worked for me but I get the feeling iphone in general had huge bugging issues when it comes to non apple products

hopes this helps someone. was driving me crazy

ah now it's gone again. I give up. apple you win. Just tell us where to buy apple everything and we will give you our first born children in return!!! **** sake.

If you go to "settings" "general" "reset" "reset network settings" and then discover your own home network, and enter your own home password in your own home that you have been connected to in the past (yes, this was frustrating) you will be good to go. I guess the update looked out at available WiFi networks and blocked anything it could actually connect to, so if you updated from your own network, you automatically made that network the one you would never be able to connect to. Thanks a lot for posting, by process of elimination from the posts I was able to resolve the issue.

Had same problem. Solutions above didn't work for me but did a hard reset on the iPhone (hold down power button and menu button simultaneously for about 4 seconds) and on reboot it connected up fine. Very annoying though Apple - seems every software update these days comes with numerous glitches.....so much so I am off to an Android device as soon as my contract is up after being an avid iPhone user for many years.

Hi i had this problem & it was easy to connect in the end - Even if your iphone4s picks up your routers wireless

click Other... just under choose a network

type in your router name manually - its on your router

Choose your security i clicked WPA2 first but if you are unsure try them all 1 by 1 unless you know how to check your Wifi security settings

go back and fill in your wireless key ( on your router too )

Thats it works every time - tried it from a full reset too
