I accidentally placed my Itouch on a cover with a magnetic clip on it and my screen went all wavy with the apple logo on it; I quick picked it up, but then the screen went totally white and now it's blue. It won't turn off, won't turn on, nothing. I tried plugging into my computer, but Itunes does not even recognize it. I don't know if it's demagnetized, or what, and what can I do about it? HELP?????????

I'm sorry to say it, but your iPod Touch is probably damaged beyond your ability to repair yourself. You can try to get it into Recovery Mode and then connect it to your computer running iTunes for a Factory Restore operation, but if it won't enter Recovery Mode or otherwise be recognized by your computer's iTunes, there's nothing you can do.

Even if you're still covered by AppleCare, the warranty will not cover this damage. But if recovery/restore fails, contact AppleCare anyway for a Genius Bar appointment. Worst case is that you'll have to pay for a repair or replacement of your iPod Touch; best case is that they'll be able to fix it for you on the spot (I wouldn't count on that, though).

I would not expect the magnet to caus any problems. However try:

- Resetting the iPOd.

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Then connect to your computer and try to restore the iPod

- Next see if recovery mode will all a restore. For that mode see:

iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

- Let the battery fully discharge. Charge and try again.

To everyone who answered, thank you so much...I was able to get into recovery mode and it is up and running again....now I know to hold the buttons together and thankfully the apple logo appeared and all was not lost...a word to people with the magnetic cover for the NOOK......it is an extremely strong magnet and almost destroyed my Touch....I have heard of others losing everything on their phones from this cover...so keep them far apart. Again, thanks to all who helped! I appreciate it!
