Hey jonnycollins3,

The good news is, you don't actually need to take either the back casing or front plate off of your iMac in order to instal new RAM. There's actually a great Kbased article that shows a model list of how to do RAM upgrades for each supported model - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1423

With the 2007 iMac's they actually have 3 philips head screws in the center, at the bottom of the computer right underneath your Apple logo. Simply unscrew those screws and you'll see both of your RAM slots with the existing RAM in the slots. Use the plastic pull tabs to remove your old RAM and insert the new RAM.

NOTE: If you are going to be doing you own RAM upgrade, please be sure to use a grounding cable when doing so. Technology now days is quite small, so static discharge from clothing, surfaces and even just your skin can actually damage, if not destroy the RAM, or your computer! You can find a grounding wristband at a local Best Buy or Microcenter for around $10-15.
