iPhone asking for random Apple ID passwords after restore

So yesterday my screen suddenly turned red and went fuzzy then the device went into recovery mode, luckily it doesn't seem like it was a hardware issue and I had a backup to iCloud from the night before that I used to restore.

As soon as the restore process began the iPhone began popping up boxes asking me to enter the passwords for Apple ID's that I've never even heard of or been associated with and this is still going on 12 hours later.

It popped up first asking me to enter the password for the Apple ID, then when I clicked cancel on that it asked me to enter the password for, then several others. I have never used or been associated with these e-mail addresses and a quick google search on them reveals that at least one of them belongs to someone far far away that I've never heard of or been associated with.

It's now been restoring for 12 hours and when I go into the iCloud settings on the iPhone it reports that it's still restoring from the backup and it keeps popping up boxes asking me for the passwords for these strange Apple IDs every few minutes.

I think I could probably stop it by killing the restore process but I don't want to do that unless it's complete. If it's only partially finished and waiting for these passwords to proceed I don't want to stop it since there's no option to resume from where you left off, you have to start all over again.

What is going on with this thing??

Like everyone else who gets these messages from the same handful of email addresses, you have a pirated song in your collection that was tied to that account.

Yes I know, everyone who has pirated music and gets these messages that only happen because of pirated music claim, "I didn't pirate anything." The only way for these handul of accounts to show up, is for pirated music to be in your library, assigned to these popular accounts. That Apple has finally shut down.

For example, songs tied to that particular account was reported comprimised as early as 2009

It has nothtning to do with the device you are setting up. The reason it happens when setting up a new device (or restoring) is because now iTunes is trying to authorized the previously reported pirated music. And no, it isn't that the device Apple GAVE you had the pirated content. Restores don't work that way.

So. Stop pirating music. Stop letting your girlfriend or boyfriend or best friend give you songs. Those files your roommate put on your hard drive and forgot about? Maybe that's where it came from. Don't let your kids download music from the internet.

I FIXED IT!

I had the same problem and I figured it's caused by downloaded music. When you restore from iCloud backup, the iPhone read the Apple IDs in music metadata.

Just go to iCloud settings on the iPhone and in the Restore Backup menu click on "Cancel backup" (I don't know if it's actually like that, I'm Italian so I read it in Italian). Anyway there's should be a red message to click on. Hope you understood what I meant. Sorry if I haven't been more precise.

I was having similar problems trying to update apps on my new (out of the box) iPhone 5S, which I today upgraded to at the Sprint store. It had no mp3 or other multimedia of any kind in its library and it also showed that it was was not connected to iCloud. This problem is not necessarily a result of pirated files. After first deleting all of the apps before updating them, I clicked "Delete Account" (listed in red, perhaps as anth3000 explained). After signing back into my iCloud account, the problem went away. Try calling Apple if you're still having problems. Hope this helps - good luck.
