Apple TV just lost the ability to play content via home share.

I was playing a movie via home share from my iMac. When it ended I tried to play another movie Apple TV entered an endless loop trying to conect. Havent been able to connect via Apple TV(2) since. Anyone else having problems like this. About a week ago there was a similar problem where Apple TV could not authorize. Is this yet another problem with Apple's servers?

BTW this is not a new installation and there have been no hardware or software changes.

I updated last night. Was annoyed that I had to sign into everything again afterwards (home network, home sharing, Netflix), but other than that I thought we were ok. Watched one movie tonight, paused it in the credits, then went back in and it starts spinning forever. Made sure all updates were complete on each side (AppleTV 2 and iTunes), restarted both. Still spinning. Finally had the patience to let it spin (as I'm writing this post), and after 5 minutes the film starts. They need to get this fixed. My primary use for the Apple TV 2 is to play movies and shows between it and my iMac.

This is getting old - the last time this happened it took weeks for Apple to come out with an update that solved it. Here we are again, not able to use our products in the most basic way we should be able to. Hopefully this isn't a sign of where the brand is headed, but it's clear that the Apple TV's performance is far, far below Apple's standards.

If it were a once-in-a-while problem I'd be willing to cut them some slack. But this is persistent and recurring and my Apple TV is in no way fixed. I'd also be willing to cut them some slack if they didn't put out that smug marketing campaign a few years back about how Apple products "just work" and everything else is unreliable crap. They've gone out of their way to set a high standard for electronics; it's only fair they should be held to that standard as well. These glitches are a major black eye.

All that said, it's a first world problem. Nobody's gonna die if they can't watch their shows right away. Just sayin'.
