My new 4S, 5 days old, has dropped calls the last 3 days whereas my 3GS never did?

I have the 4s which is my first iPhone and so far I'm completely disappointed. I drop calls all day long and I never did with my old phone, not to mention the battery life is horible. I really excepted something a little better from apple.
Same for me - I have the 4s since a week or so but so many dropped calls, unbelievable. Just talked to a business partner how will replace his 4s by something else due to this problem. Is there any solution?
And again that horrible battery topic (but at least there is so much pressure on Apple to solve this quickly).
Actually I can't believe that they are issuing such a phone which needs to be charged every 6 hours and which cannot be used as a telephone.
After using the 3G and the 4 I am really disappointed.
This is unreal. Since I got my 4S on day 1, I've had 0 dropped calls. The reception is far superior to my 3GS. I'm getting multiple bars where I had one or none on my 3GS. Also 3G service is much better.
I had reservations after all the reception issues with the 4 so I never got it. Decided to take the plunge with the 4S and am completely satisfied. I have no issues with this phone at all. Even battery life is great after conditioning the battery with 3 full charge/discharge cycles.
May be a good idea to mention what carrier you're on as well.
I'm on Verizon and haven't had any issues either.
Good point, I'm using AT&T..
I have Swisscom in switzerland, not one droped call out of about 20 calls I made since i have received iPhone 4S
I have been having the same problem with my 4S (on AT&T.) I took it back to the Apple store...they swapped it out for a new one and it still drops calls ALL DAY LONG! My iPhone 4 worked perfectly fine and I regret that I purchased the 4S. When they come out with the 5.0.1 battery update, they need to address the antenna issue!!!!!!!
I am having the same problems. Started dropping calls about 3 days after getting the 4s. I have AT&T along with a microcell. So, I started with them as suspects. I had AT&T exchange my microcell and sim card out. Then when that did not work went to the apple store and they exchanged my phone out. In the parking lot at the mall heading home dropped 2 more calls! I am at wits end! I am ready to dump AT&T and the iPhone altogether if I can't get this figured out.
I am having the same problem like many people from this discussion. It start happening last week i think. Even today i was only on the phone for two calls, guess what both of those call i have dropped calls on them.
BTW i have the iphone 4s 64gb with AT&T. i also live in the city. I did not have this problem when I was using my iphone 3g.
I haven't had any issues with my sprint phone. In fact I get better signal and haven't dropped one call yet.
There is no antenna problem I suspect it is an AT&T problem.
I upgraded from the iPhone 3G to the 4S as well, and I am experiencing a very high rate of dropped calls, whereas before I had literally none. I always heard people complain about ATT and dropped calls, but I never experienced it until the iPhone 4S.
I had 3GS and it dropped calls all day. I even took pictures of the "call failed" messages and used it to get a discount from AT&T once in a while. Reluctantly, I upgraded to 4S and to my surprise I haven't dropped a single call (touch wood). I get more bars now than used to get on my 3GS. Overall, I am satisfied with my new phone. Since my experience is quite the opposite, I believe the issue lies within the strength of signal that one receives in respective area. Above all, the problem has to do with the carrier that one is subscribed to. That is why all issues are not replicated across multiple carriers.
For the first time in owning iPhones over several years, I am experiencing several dropped calls each day on my 4S. I'm on Vodafone UK. It's not a signal issue, I have a full 5 bar signal each time it happens.
Very frustrating.
I'm having the exact same problem. I upgraded from the 3GS to the 4S and have practically every single call drop. I lose a call every single day. If it doesn't drop it's completely choppy for the person on the other end so they can barely hear me. This is in spite of my phone apparently having 3-4 bars of signal.
Signal isn't that great in my area but the same locations always worked fine on the 3GS. I'd get 2 bars max in my house but calls would never drop. Clearly the 4S is lying when it says it has 4 bars in the same location.
I'm sure Apple is working on a bug fix as they did when the 3GS developed the same problem when they fixed the problem with the 4. I've been fortunate not to experience the battery issue though. I'm on O2 in the UK.
