My new 4S, 5 days old, has dropped calls the last 3 days whereas my 3GS never did?

I feel I must add to this post as this is my first iPhone (4S on O2 in the UK) and I am completely frustrated and disappointed with it!!

It keeps dropping calls and the battery life is awful, I am now seriously concidering selling it!!

This is such a shame as I have a full suite of other Apple products such as iMac, iPad1, iPad2, MacBooks and ATV2 and all of them are fantatsic.

Apple you MUST sort this out.

Well let's add to the list shall we, I bought my 4s in late november/early december and noticed dropped calls right away, I didn't complain at first because it was new and every new line of apple products has had some kind of issue and I thought Apple would sort it out with a software upgrade but they haven't and now it's a giant **** off, I cannot say how many times this stupid phone has dropped calls, its ridiculous, Apple is supposed to be a technology leader and the thing is called an i"phone" however the phone is its worst function.with

I am with Rogers in Canada and it seems to usually drop if I am on the phone for 10+ minutes, as if it says, "well this conversation has gone on long enough." It is especially annoying when calling support from companies like rogers or apple where you have to wait on hold for a while and then I finally get through to someone and then it drops. Most companies won't call back either so after spending half an hour waiting I have to start all over again.

Very dissapointing Apple. I am a long time customer and reccommend your brand to almost everyone I know, please fix this issue.

Same issue on T-Mobile Czech Republic...

The problem is that the phone is swapping networks (3G->EGDE->3G...) while in the middle of a call.

That would be understandable if there would be no signal which is not the case.

Something in the new iPhone 4S antenna design is causing this. The concept itself of swapping antennas is good but it appears the OS is not ready for it.

Now my friends have reasons to make fun of me that I didnt buy an Android phone 😝 I might very well go back to my provider and ask for a HTC One X if it continues like this. I use the phone for business purposes, 1-2h calls per day and I dont want to disable 3G every time I make a call.

I had 3 dropped calls in 5 minutes before I decided to disable 3G.

Not cellular data but 3G. If you leave it on EDGE you won't have problems. The phone seems to jump from 3G to EDGE without a very good reason while in a call. Of course the result is a "failed call". Apple failed to properly tune their OS.... I think I'll soon follow Wozniak's example and get a nokia windows phone. That even comes with turn by turn navigation build in for 100$ less, can you imagine that? :))))

Actually, my iPhone 4S drops the calls the most like stated before when it is either inside switching wifi vs. 3G/4G networks. or in my office where I have my network set up. I use AT&T in Texas, and was able to get it to work fine for a couple of months in the beginning of 2012. Then I went and updated with the rest, and well, there goes my ability to use my phone as a phone. I don't have time to do anything about it, because I'm to busy, and the calls I do make and receive are important. That's why it is so frustrating that either the I can't hear the other person, they can't hear me, or "call failed" which just plain makes me 😠.

My wife's iPhone 4s on Verizon will drop at some point during almost every call. Just now over a 15 min conversation the call dropped 4 times.

So far I've seen two posts with potential solutions. Shut off cellular data and doing a deep reset. I've also noticed several comments that it's related to swtiching between 3g and 4g networks. That seems possible as her phone almost never appears connected at 4g but perhaps we're at the edge of the 4g area.

I have precisely the same issue with my 4S and it's significantly impacting my business. The work I do tends to mean I spend a large amount of time on the phone and people can very often neither make or receive calls from me due to this. I miss LOADS of calls every day purely because Apple, despite clearly having had this problem for at least 6 months, have done nothing about it.

I'm on my second 4S, and much as I theoretically love the product itself, it is utterly, utterly hopeless at it's main function, which is being a mobile telephone.....

So incredibly frustrated.

I already changed 4 times my iPhone 4S, and there is still something wrong going on. The iPhone 4S is the shitest iPhone. I suppose it's badly made as there is always something wrong on all the iPhone 4S I had. I have to say, I'm really fed up with all this iPhone thing. I really need something that works 100%, and as so far the iPhone hasn't been reliable, I will turn roward a galaxy s3. I have enough of all this locked data phone... ENOUGH!!!!
