iPhone 4s drops calls
My new 4S, 5 days old, has dropped calls the last 3 days whereas my 3GS never did?

I have 3 iPhone 4S's all on O2. All of them drop calls and two of them have been changed by apple to no avail. They tell me that this is a network capacity issue with O2 i.e. they are oversubscribed and calls are literally fighting for airtime!!! Whether that's true I don't know however I think we'll all would appreciate a definitive answer from Apple! Is this a problem with our 4S's or is it a network issue??? I'm sure Apple monitor this thread ... can we have an answer please????
Exactly the same problem on my wife's iPhone 4S here in Bahrain. It isn't a network problem as I am using an iPhone 4 on the same network and don't experience any problems. Come on Apple try responding to those of us who have spent lots of money on these devices. They might be great toys but they are totally useless as phones. Like many customers I have many Apple products but unless this fault gets fixed my future spend will be with your competitors.
I had a 3GS before I got my 4S, and to be honest with, both had an equal amount of dropped calls. Now I'm at a point where I can't even call back. I can try multiple times, and it's as if the phone can't connect to any cell tower.
On my second 4S now (waited one month!!!)...same problem...same solution: Disable 3G (Settings-General-Cellular-Enable 3G-OFF). This seems to stabilize network coverage. Not the best solution but at least no dropped calls or lost network. Still angry that grandma's 50 bucks phone works better...so disappointing...Note the new 6.0.1 update didn't solve the issue for me...seriously considering a phone that WORKS if Apple doesn't fix that...lost money, time & nerves...Apple reduce those 'GENIUS' reps and get ppl that do understand that a phone should be engineered for CALLING!
It's very unlikely that you repeatedly are getting dropped calls on all the iPhone 4S you are geting from Apple maybe you need to look at your carrier.

In my case it certainly isn't a problem with the carrier, it is the phone. Have used the same phone on different carriers both when roaming and with a different carriers SIM and get exactly the same result i.e. constant dropped calls. Using an iPhone 4 instead of the 4S results in no disconnections at all. The problems lie with the 4S.
I agree with Ron...definitely not a carrier problem. We have more than 50 phones in the company working under similar conditions and only the 4S ones shows such problems...
i have the problem of dropping calls, i rest the network settings many times without any help, it drops the call while i am talking, sometimes i am not able to hear the other caller and then hears him again
i am really so upset, Apple store is telling me they can replace the ipohne but i should pay £120..
is there any one getting a soultion yet
Hey Nuflia,
I just had this problem and found out another update has come out recently that "deals with cellular performance" specifically with the 4s. I tried downloading it and have not had any problems since.
thanks for the reply
i also downlaoded the latest update thought it would solve the problem
but it's still as before, no improvements happened
i fed up with Iphone 4, i wish i had not bought it
I had the dropouts something chronic on Telstra Aus, i reckon its the network since it stopped doing it after telstra pushed a network update to my phone , im still on 5.1.1 and no probs ever again. My 1 cent :)
I have an iPhone 4S and I have nothing but trouble with it in London. I have swapped the phne twice, replaced the SIM card twice, and recently switched networks from O2 to Orange, still no luck. I have dropped calls, "No service" and people complain that they cannot hear me. It's not the network, that much is for sure. This phone is useless. I am now out of warranty so any further replacement will cost me £130, and there's no point as I know it will not help. I am tempted to downgrade to an iPhone 4 just to end the misery. Do people think this is worth a go, or is that just as bad?
Hi Datahoover
Do not do it, Do not downgrade to Iphone4, I have an Iphine4 and it keeps doing the same problem , droping calls and people always complaining that they do not hear me and sometimes while we#re talking there is always a moment of pause.
so this will not help and Iphone is not worth that £130 pound swap, i am waiting for samng s4 and i will never buy iphone gain , i lerned form my experince
Thanks, nuflia. I am close to ditching the iPhone as not being able to make calls is killing my business. Plus I can use Google to sync my data so there's little point in sticking with Apple's eco system when the tech is failing me so badly.
I reset the network called my girlfriend from the exact same spot my last dropped call happened. She said I sounded a lot clearer and I actually got to say goodbye and press the end button. Hopefully this solution continues to work. Thanks wraymund!
