Will facetime work with my iCloud aliases?

Hi,

I've created a few aliases under my main iCloud email adress. I have been trying to add them to my Facetime list of emails so that I can be contacted. However, after attempting to activate my aliases from Facetime, I get an error message.

Could someone please kindly advice me on this matter?

Cheers,

Daryl

OK then you need to keep / use your iTunes Apple ID. Now in the additional area did you try the other @me.com e-mail address which is your other Apple ID you created for iCloud to see if that works. (Also is your iPhone's phone number grayed out for where you can be reached at?) If that does not work log in to iCloud on you computer and add another alias under your iCloud account and then add that to the additional area. Just use something like yourname_iPhone@me.com for your alias.

I created a new alias through iCloud and I tried adding it to the additional emails area in iMessage. I got the same error. I then tried to add the email through the appleid.apple.com website and got the same error as with my previous alias. There is something wrong.

When did you create your alias and account? This account was created around the time after iOs5.1.

I created my iCloud account and aliases when I received my iPhone 4s. When they first came out. Do not know why you are having so much trouble. The only thing else that is different is that I used my Apple ID (which is the same for iTunes) to create my iCloud account. You created a new Apple ID for your iCloud account.

I'm having the exact same problem, have been since migrating from mobileme to iCloud, it appears to be an issue for migrators, not new iCloud account creators. Driving me crazy, my original AppleID is an address I never use, all my email comes and goes from my Alias, and when I try to use iMessage from it I get the same error, trying to register the alias on Manage my Apple ID brings up the same

The mail alias cannot be the same as a profile email

So annoying!
