Found Fix for iPhone 4 and 4S battery life problem

I found a flaw in the iOS 5

there is a option that constantly uses your location service without you knowing, it dosen't even show the purple arrow next to the battery unless you change that option to see.

go to settings> location services> go to the bottom and go to system services> turn all off except leave cell network search, compass calibration and traffic on, and turn the status bar icon on, so you know when your location is being used

the location based iAds,and setting Time Zone are constantly using the GPS.

I noticed a HUGE battery life difference that is much better

wasnt sure if anyone knew this.

Ok I will give it a shot and see if that fixes my problem. I still think it is a 3G problem as well because I don't see the location services making the phone very hot like mine has been doing. Once I turned cellular data off and used wifi only I haven't had the heating problem from my phone and the battery lasts much longer as well. You fix might be part of the problem but there are some others out there as well so this isn't the golden fix for the battery drain problem.

Yea, tried that last week. No difference. I wish people would stop marking these posts "Solved" when it is NOT "solved". My phone drains about 5% per hour just sitting quietly on the table doing nothing. I habitually kill apps after using them too.

And if you look at my "usage" stats. Usage and standby are ALWAYS exactly the same. So something is "using" while I'm not using my phone.

What is it?

I am an Apple iOS Developer. Have worked non-stop for two days, and for two hours I found it. The big battery usage flaw. In the operative systems coding; it is written in c++ that the gps is always on. Network and satellite based. The only fix available is the turn-off in the system services. Future updates will fix this problem even more.

Continue to search the settings.

I tried this suggestion and I am still getting quick battery drain. I have turned off the Bluetooth, turned down screen brightness, autolock after a minutes, turned off most location services and turned all all push notification and the drain on the battery is still bad. I have had my phone for 4 days and the battery drain is worst then my 3yr old iPhone 3G i just replaced.

Turning on the flight mode makes my phone cool off, and this is a temporary fix for me, but that off course makes the phone completly useless.

Forget location service, wifi, notifications, icolud backups, network settings, mail and everything else, I have tried everything, and nothing works. The problem is some system process in an infinite loop, trying to connect to some internet service, it's not an uncommon bug in the unix world...
