I have the 4S. I would lose about 6-7% overnight. That was bad. I have Bluetooth turned on all the time because I have it connected to my car. I tested turning it off last night. I charged it to 100% and turned off Bluetooth. When I woke this morning a looked at it I was at 98% with a couple of pushed e-mails coming thru.

Everyone having these issue on the 4S or even the 4 have to be a process running or something turned on that is draining the batter like poor signal, exchange connector (which is known to cause it to drain faster) etc. Unless there is some difference in 5 running on a 4 or a 4S.

Apple knows there are still issues and will come out with a fix. They already have come out with one (whether it fixed your or not). It takes a little of time to troubleshoot, beta test etc.

Beta testing for 5 always does not flush out all the issues. It is only for developers to test their software etc. It is a smaller population than like 40 million people. Once it hits the population then it goes into real time use with all different apps being used and the phone being used in all real time situations like connected to cars and other devices.

I have done nothing new since updating to 5.0.1 yesterday, except allow my iPad to drain to the point where it shut itself down. I did notice that it seemed to hang at 7% for quite a while in use. I charged the iPad last night and began using it this morning. Battery life has seemed to improve dramatically. The charge status stayed at 100% for the first 45 mins of use while game playing and is now @ 98% after 1hr of total use (game play and posting here).

So, it looks like draining the battery and recharging appears to work for some people. I'll continue to watch.

Can I suggest that you drain the battery completely and recharge it for at least 10 hours. The reason I say this is that I think that the software is looking at the battery's charge as full when it's not. You may have noticed before the update, that if you charge your iPad or iPhone just long enough to build it up to 100%, it does not last as long as a full charge over night. I have now done the update on my 4s and my iPad 2, along with my sons 4 and daughters 3GS, all are working well especially the 4s is now great on battery life and unusually 3GS also. Both the others are working at least as well if not better than before, so there has to be a reason. I did the upgrades when all batteries in all devices were at 100% having been charged overnight. Could this be significant?

Battery life has always just been so so on the Iphone 4 considering how restrictive the device is in comparison to its competition. It is much less buggy, but definately limits what you can do with your device. Since the last update it has become a joke. Down over 60% in what I would call moderate use, couple phone calls, text or 2, 10-30 minutes of web browsing, couple emails.

This has to be corrected, I have basically like 10 apps on the device and none authorized to run in the background. For work the iphone is fine because it was atleast reliable. If I am going to sacrifice functionality I should atleast get back superior battery. Now I have neither

I've tried every suggestion on this forum and all of Apple's "fixes". I don't do anything different with my phone now than I did before. After updating to IOS 5, it's actually worse than before. Battery life is worse and it crashes more often now. In fact, it crashes all by itself when I'm not even using the phone. Just sitting on the desk I notice it rebootings several times a day. So, I finally ordered and Android phone from Virgin Mobile today so I can say goodbye and good riddance to bad rubbish to Apple's cruddy products and AT&T's expensive service plan and all the time wasting headaches that go with them.
