iTunes won't sync my TV shows to my iPad 2

Suddenly (probably since iOS5 was released, but I'm not sure), iTunes has started to refuse to sync my TV shows to my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4. When syncing either of these devices, the rest of the sync goes well, and all music, apps and other items are transferred. When the computer tries to sync TV shows, I get the following error:

Clicking on the disclosure triangle shows that the errors are typical of the one shown in the following dialog box:

Despite what iTunes says, the mac mini that is running iTunes is authorized to play content from this iTunes account. Furthermore, I can get the mac mini to play the TV shows in question on my computer screen, I just can't get it to transfer the shows over to the iPad.

I can also download the episodes onto the iPad over WiFi, and get them to play there as well.

I just can't get iTunes to move the episodes over for me.

I have tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing the mac mini to see if there is some glitch that needs to be cleared, but that has not made a difference.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions that get proposed.

I have exactly the same problem.....only having problems with tv shows....everything else sync fine. I'm going around in circles trying to get it fixed too. I used genius on call through apple joint venture, and he couldn't solve it. He said it is an issue that I need to resolve through the iTunes store, so I am currently in email contact with them...

I to can download tv shows on my iPad and it will transfer them to my library, but when I try and transfer them to my other iPad I get the same error again. So frustrated right now

Having exactly the same problem. All music downloads sync perfectly, but TV shows saying I'm not authorised (getting same messages as above) - haven't tried movies as reluctant to pay for more stuff I can't watch on the go. Can watch the TV shows on iTunes, just can't sync to my iPod. I am working with the new iMac 10.7.2 Lion to iPod Touch. Eager to see if you solve this problem as it's annoying. Thanks

So far I have tried using genius on call to fix this....they can't. I'm currently emailing iTunes support through the express lane option, they havent been much help. They keep telling my to check my software and deauthorising and reauthorise my computer.

Is there someone else I can talk to about this? Maybe the more people that raise this issue the more chance we might have getting it solved?

Hi. For what it's worth I am having the same problems transfering purchased iTunes TV shows to either iPhone 4s or iPad 2. All software up to date iOS 5, 10.7.2 iTUNES 10.5 etc. I bought them off my only Apple ID and it will let me play them on my Mac but not sync to my iOS devices. Have tried the steps above but no luck in syncing them. They are standard versions not HD versions. Interestingly it is only recently purchashed TV shows that I am having the problem. Older TV shows will sync???

Have no idea why this is happening. Anyone got any advice other than what the obvious things like deauthorising and reauthorising computer, rebooting iOS devices etc

I'm experiencing a similar problem, but with a particular movie that I'm trying to transfer onto my iPad 2. Movie was purchased as a physical Blu-ray/Digital Copy set, imports into iTunes fine, even plays on my iMac fine, but every time I try to load it on the iPad, I get the "not authorized" message.

I've tried to re-import the movie, but it still won't transfer onto the iPad.

Hi Folks,

Can you try this step, from article TS1389

  1. Quit iTunes and any other open applications until only Finder is open.
  2. Choose Go > Go to Folder.
  3. Type /Users/Shared/SC Info and click Go.User uploaded file
  4. If Finder is not already set to column view, set it by choosing View > as Columns.User uploaded file
  5. Select the SC Info folder and move it to the Trash by choosing File > Move to Trash.
  6. Restart the computer and open iTunes.
  7. Authorize your computer to play your purchases. Note: If you have multiple accounts you will need to authorize your computer for each account. For more information on how to authorize your computer, see this article.

Guys I contacted a "genius" at apple care last night who got back to me today with the resoution above regarding removing the SC folder and it works!

Now am a happy bean with my tv shows on all my iOS devices thanks to him. Thank you too Matthew for posting the original post as without that I think I would have thought the problem was just with me and was reassured to know I wasn't alone. Hope it solves everyones issues.

God bless

Rob
