iPhone 4s location wrong... Why?

My location on my 4s is completely out, it says I'm about 30 miles away from where I actually am. It does this 90% of the time! And I'm not sure what I can do to fix it. My iPad 2 and other family members iPhone 4 on the same wifi etc. doesn't have any prOblems with this.

iPhone 4S, iOS 5

Richard, there is no solution as far as I can see. other than a debug from Apple.

Turn off your auto time zone preference, and set it to Grenwich, then you'll have the right time unless you travel abroad.

I think I understand correctly that if you have no 3G in your area the problem will persist untill there is a fix.

if you are in wifi zone only, and turn off your network and location preferences then your position should be correct.

If you reboot by turning the phone on and then off again, you will find the location devices will work for a short period even if you have no 3G in your area..

Hope this helps.

Please send a message to apple feedback - the page is on the main site if you do a search.. this will help them to move ahead quicker to solve the problem we are all facing.

What really annoys me is that these discussion forums are bound to be monitored by Apple employees but nobody is shedding any light on the problem, or even letting their customers know that they are at least looking into it. *****!

Actually these forums are peer policed. There are just a few people who program, make sure it is running, and reply to flags on posts from higher ranked members. This is a knowledge sharing forum, not an Apple support channel.

If an Apple employee decides to post to these forums in their off the clock time, their avatar will have an Apple logo along side. But this does not mean it is an official reply from Apple.

This morning im in spain barcelona, now im at perth australia. Yesterday i was somewhere in the middle east. LoLss. Tried everything from reset all settings to hard restore. Location works fine for like 20mins before travelling around the world. Im not keen to exchange my phone coz in my area, its a 2 weeks wait before replacement comes. I dont mind turning off auto timezone setting. But weather, siri, maps, and some apps are useless if my location is not determine properly. Its affecting so many people yet apple havent give any statements or solution to fix. Im from singapore=(

I posted yesterday with issues as well.. but just to clarify.. from reading it seems you're all mostly in Europe or Asia.. I'm in the States in Louisiana and when located at my home it shows me or my daughter and husband about 100 miles from our actual location and I'm on AT&T so it's not just service provider issues.. it HAS to be the 4s... i need this to work i use the find my friends app to know where my family is and they use it for me. So far it had worked perfectly, and no need for it but I think in an emergency this could pose an issue.. anyone with a teenage child or any child likes the comfort of being able to see where they are this thing scared me to death yesterday because it had her in a swamp near a river when i checked to see if she'd made it home from school... NOT COOL AT ALL!! fix this apple! and for goodness sake at least ACKNOWLEDGE there is an issue and let us know you are working on it!
