iTunes match for two libraries on one computer

Whenever I try to enable iTunes Match in the latest iTunes beta, it says "This computer is already associated with an Apple ID." I cannot proceed with scanning my library. In the other account, with their Apple ID, it works.

There are two user accounts on our Mac. Does this mean that iTunes Match is linked to the device itself, and not the unique Apple IDs/user accounts? This means in a family that shares a computer, with unique and separate iTunes libraries within each user account, only one person in the family can use iTunes Match (but strangely, both can pay for it).

Any ideas?

It isn't just iTunes Match that the 90 day thing relates to, it's the whole iTunes in the Cloud facility.

I suspect that the computer has been authorised under her ID for automatic downloads, or you have redownloaded something from the purchased tag. This will have triggered the 90 days.

Unfortunately, as I understand it, Apple are being very strict on it, so I don't think there is anything you can do anouyt it until the 90 days are up. When it is, make sure that you don't trigger it again with her account.

I was just emailed about this by an Apple Rep. It seems you can only have one Apple ID per computer. Therefore having multiple logins i.e. one for me and one for my wife (in my context). Is useless, and pointless. As we are only allowed one Apple ID per computer therefore having her iTunes match and mine is just a waste of money - when we can only use one on our Mac.

I feel the only solution for people wanting to do this, is have the one account and share?!?!? 😕

Frustrating!

That's not entirely true. It is possible to have more than one iTunes Account on the same computer, in seperate User Accounts. What is not possible is to have more than one Apple ID associated with iTunes Match or to have automatic downloads from the store enabled on the same computer. New purchases work just fine in multiple User Accounts, and as long as no one on the computer re-downloads any content the 90 day lock out will not be invoked.

But, yes, in your situation it is not possible for both parties to have iTunes Match enabled.

This is also extremely frustraing for me. I have my own personal iTunes account, however, I deal with all the music organizing for the company I work for -- which is a preschool that classes are run entirely by music. I should be able to have 2 different iTunes match accounts on the same computer ... because I PAY for 2 different iTunes match accounts. This is a serious problem.

Unreal. This issue is actually WORSE in iTunes 11.1. Previously you could at least use the iTunes library that couldn't be "joined" for cloud downloads to upload Matched songs and manage your cloud playlists. Now you can't even add the secondary user's library to iTunes Match AT ALL without getting the 90 days blah blah blah you PAID for a service that you can't use because someone else also PAID for the same service.
