Siri is insanely loud with Jabra Journey

I've seen a number of threads regarding Siri volume being too low with bluetooth devices - but none that say it's too loud.

Even if I try and adjust the volumn on my bluetooth hands free speaker - Siri still seems to kick in at maximum volume.

I just downloaded the software update for the Jabra Journey and it didn't help. Has anyone else had similar problems? - I've looked and can't find a way to control the volume of Siri on the phone anywhere either.

Thanks

The case number I have from Jabra is 4796941 - and they swear the update is coming very soon. The website software update is still JOURNEY_Software-1-4-3.zip, containing a file Jabra_JOURNEY-1-4-3.exe dated 6th October 2011. If I receive and update telling me the fix is available or if I see it - I'll post ASAP.

Fortunately, I purchased my Journey from Costco - and they have a very good return policy - so I'm still holding out hope.

There seems to be some disconnect at Jabra regarding the status of the Journey and the iPhone 4S with Siri. Having previously been given the case number, I received an email from 'Nick' telling me that 'Gus' was mistaken and that the update in the works was for another product and not Journey. Hopefully the representive who last responded here knows otherwise. Both 'Nick' and my original responder 'Albert' suggested doing a 'factory reset', aka re-pairing - which as we all know doesn't work.

Here are the steps provided - which didn't change anything for me:

"Turn OFF the Jabra JOURNEY.

Delete or remove the Jabra JOURNEY from the Bluetooth Menu on your iPhone.

Turn OFF or disable the Bluetooth feature on your iPhone.

Turn ON the Jabra JOURNEY.

Press and hold the Answer/End button and the Volume down (the - sign) button at the same time until you hear the Jabra JOURNEY will beep three times and announce the pairing instructions after a few seconds, indicating the speaker has been reset and it will automatically get into pairing mode.

Once in pairing mode, your iPhone should be able to add the Jabra JOURNEY as a new device from within its Bluetooth menu (you will have to enable Bluetooth on your phone again and scan or search for devices). And remember that if your cell phone is asking for a pin code, it always has to be: 0000

To activate Voice Dialing/Siri you can tap (click) the Voice Button once, or press and hold the Answer/End Button for 1 or 2 seconds at the most until you hear a beep. "

Having gone through all that (repeatidly), Siri still screams at me.

'Nick' goes on to say that "Furthermore, please contact Apple for assistance, because as I said before, the tests we have done on our devices did not return any kind of issues with the Journey and iPhone 4S and Siri. There is no such fix being developed as there is no known issue."

(I guess the fact people here are reporting an issue doesn't count)

As I'm still in my 90 day return window, it's not a big deal - but is frustrating that the 'story' keeps changing.

I too just got an email from Jabra saying there isn't a fix and they are looking into a solution. They nicely pointed out many other companies are having the same problem. Since I have no timeline for a fix I plan to take it back to Costco and see if they will accept a return. It is disappointing since the Jabra site says it will work with an IPhone 4s - I guess this is incorrect. The person who responded to me was Tom Tremblay, Americans Region Product Support.

Thanks for keeping us informed on your experience,

Will - if you prefer, we can exchange your Journey for a different model here at Jabra. As far as it the Jabra site saying the Journey will work with the iPhone 4s, I disagree - the Journey does work. There's a separate setting for Siri's volume that was pointed out previously in this thread - did you try it? (see the procedure at http://qr.ae/7UTyP).

Adam - I'm responsible for the information that Nick provides and will make sure that the proper information is handed down to all phone reps. I can assure you that our Product Manager is working on this issue. I apologize for your inconvenience.

Tom, I have tried to adjust the volume as described with no effect. Siri continues to be at full volume. As I pointed out this problem doesn't exist on my Motorola headphones which responds to the volume change as expected. With this issue outstanding for the Journey it would be hard to recommend until a fix is delivered. I do appreciate your attention to getting this addressed and will review the option of gettting a different unit. I will be in touch,

I bought this product from Costco yesterday, specifically for pairing with the Iphone 4s. In light of the volume issues with Siri, I will hold off giving it as a Christmas gift until I know that the issue has been resolved by Jabra, otherwise I will return it to Costco. Surprising that Jabra hasn't addressed a known issue, as I have owned 3 other Jabra products and they work perfectly. I appreciate those who have raised this issue, so that Jabra can work out a fix. I still recommend Jabra products but it is so frustrating to buy a product, spend hours trying to make it work and then having to return it, a lot of time wasted, not to mention disappointment on Christmas day.

Good news!

Yes, the issue has been addressed and the software has been updated and tested. The version on the web today, however (v1.4.3) is the older version. Look for v1.5.0 to be posted very soon - I will repost as soon as I'm made aware of the change to our web site.

Thanks to all of you who stuck by us patiently while we corrected this issue!
