I can't access itunes store on my pc

Since downloading itunes 10.5 update I can not access itunes store on my pc and could before. The status bar stalls halfway. I uninstalled itunes and re-installed it and that didn't help. I use Google Chrome as mysearch engine instead of IE. I even tried avarything using IE and get same results. I even tried the trick of adding to the end of the link for the proxy settings and this didn't work. out of ideas......HELP!

you have to right click on the command prompt and there is a drop down with the "run as administrator" selection.

If you are still having trouble, my recommendation is to completely remove EVERYTHING Apple AND remove ALL security software AND turn off windows firewall and reboot. THEN add apple back and try to access store or try the winsock reset. I would remove any potential issues (like firewall, security software, etc. This is how you troubleshoot.ONLY itunes download first. Get itunes store up THEN reload security and windows firewall back on. Don't worry about the temporary exposure with no security but don't leave it out there that long. If this doesn't work, I'm out of ideas. I know how difficult it is.

Apple.....you can thank me anytime for offering all of this free support to your helpless shoppers on your behalf!

I've been trying now for most of the last day to get the latest IOS update. I run the diagnostics, and sometimes the system passes and other times (no changes made) it fails. Yesterday I was able to download the update, but it hid somewhere and I can't find it. There were certainly no prompts to install when it had finished. Now I am supposedly downloading and updating, but Itunes can't pull up any Itunes store stuff. It claims it is downloading the update, Why don't they detect if a secure connection is dropped and continue the download when it is reconnected, or split the package up so that your not wasting so much time. I love my ipod, but am not at all impressed with Apple's updates (and I am easy to please - I'm still using Vista). I guess I'll just keep trying until I can make the 2 hour trip to the nearest Apple store and see if they can mainline the update onto my ipod.

I have Windows Vista so I did it a little differently.

1. Under the start menu I clicked to open the control panel

2. I then opened system and maintenance and clicked administrative tools

3. Click system configuration utility( if a pop up opens click continue)

4. Click tools and scroll down to command prompt click it and hit launch

You should see the administrator command window open !! Type netsh winsock reset

When done push enter, you should see that it was successful

Type exit in the command window and the window should close.

Now restart your computer

We have been trying for days to sync our phones and this was the only thing that worked.

iTunes store now works and music match!! I was so happy I had to type this out to share.

I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH.... IT WORKED!!!! I won't bore you with 6 months of stories about 27 emails to iTunes, 9 hours on the phone to Apple... Frustration to the point of reformatting and reloading my PC without any success. It has left permanent scars. For other readers, I have Windows 7 Home Premium, McAfee Total Protection, Speedbit, Dap etc...

Thank you again and again! This is a priceless nugget!

After hours, upon hours, and then thinking it was my laptop, and buying a new one...still could not access itunes store and firefox wouldn't load. I could not uninstall speedbit because it was not listed. Tried deleting the file that said speedbit in my documents. It kept comming back. Tried command prompt. that didn't work. I finally read that speedbit was included in Real Player Plus. I had just updated my real player. As soon as I uninstalled Real Player, speedbit was gone, and i was able to access itunes store from both computers. firefox runs quickly now. I am furious that this speedbit add on can cause such havoc! If everything else fails, and you have real player downloaded, it could be the problem.

I can't access itunes store on my pc
