changing account for iMessage

Our family has a single itunes account we all use when sycing to the desktop (Windows XP Pro). My wife use the ppleID associated with that account to backup to the Cloud and I have set up a new AppleID for myself to back my iPhone up to the Cloud independent of her iPhone so our calendars and contacts, etc. stay separate. If my kids send a iMessage from their iPod Touches it uses her name since her name is associated with the AppleID iMessage is using. Is it possible to use a separate AppleID with iMessage on each device similar to how I have separate IDs for iCloud?
