iTunes (vista) keeps asking for a username and password to connect to web.me.com

iTunes (vista) keeps asking for a username and password to connect to web.me.com (this has been a problem since before iCloud and I never had MobileMe) and then it asks for a username and password for e2982.c.akamaiedge.net - doesn't like my iTunes account username or password.

I think it happens when it tries to connect to iTunes store, but I can be in any page in iTunes and it will appear.

I have to press ESC to get rid of the dialogue box, so that iTunes wifi sync will work.

I've tried a proper uninstall (all apple components in order) - no luck.

My current theory is that there must have been some problem with internet options. Unable to find anything to change, I have just uninstalled internet explorer 9.

Seems okay so far....

iTunes wifi sync seems less buggy too.

Time will tell. Will update if this has not solved the problem.
