ical crashes repeatedly. Each time a message flashes "restore windows." If I click on it fast enough, ical will stay open. Any fix for this. I recently added an ipad to my system. ical on my mac and on my ipad are synched to my Google calendar.

Try moving the folder ~/Library/Saved Application State/com.apple.iCal.savedState (where ~ is your user's Home folder).

John, Just looked at the folder you referenced and it looks messed up. I have 2 library files and they are both xml files, which I can't read. Doesn't look right.

No, it's much worse than that. Under my user name, I have the usual folders plus one called library.xml and another called library2.xml. Both filled with stuff I don't understand. So I have no way to get to Saved Applications. I just recently upgraded to Lion and something may have gone wrong. I think I need to discuss with Apple.

Having said that I'm not sure what the library.xml is.

I've been having the same problem lately. Been reading discussions on the matter through searches. I've discovered that the dock widget for iCal relates to the previous version of iCal and that's where the conflict arises. By deleting the widget and adding a new one (by copying/dragging from the apps folder that has latest version of iCal) then this solves the problem.
I often use the dock to open iCal and now the problem has gone for me. So far so good.
EDIT. I take all that back. Just tried opening iCal from the dock and it's crashing again. So ignore my previous post as it's a load of baloney. Sorry guys. I'm no more the wiser now.

Same here, OS 10.7.2, iCal 5.0.1; keeps crashing when updating shared calendars in my gMail. Also, deleting items from iCal don't carry accross to gMail calendars (when I manage to keep iCal open long enough).
