Okay. That makes sense.

I tried Boece's suggestion. System Preferences> Language & Text> Language. I dragged Deutsch to the top of the list. Then I opened Photoshop Elements 10 Editor. It was in German. Then I changed Languages back to English and reopened PSE 10. Back to English. Changes in Language – "take effect in applications the next time you open them."

I am very sorry if I have added confusion. I am a long time PS and PSE user but have made very few purchases via MAS.

I was not familiar with it either, since I do everything in one language. But your problem was bugging me because I thought I had missed something obvious. Give Boece credit - he pointed us in the right direction. I figured it out fiddling with the settings.

Now that I see how it works in MAS it makes sense. But the description copy was misleading – "you can install in four different languages" – since I presumed it installed the way PSE has always worked.

We all learned something. Pass it on.

And it is fixed!!!!!

I mentioned that was how Mac OS X normally worked with apps and the language resource files in my second comment.

I have iPhoto from the MAS. If I right click on the iPhoto icon and choose to view the package contents and browse to Contents/Resources, I will find .lproj folders for all the languages Apple offers on Mac OS X. And based on my choices for language in the System preferences iPhoto displays in that language unless it is some obscure language that Apple may have developed for Mac OS X, but has not yet developed for iPhoto.
