Guys,

You are right. Something very different about this version through MAS. I thought there was something screwy that even though the info in MAS said it could be installed in one of four different languages there was no option for which language.

Double checking this I got forced into buying it from MAS. Purchase made before I could back out and installation was automatic over which there was no control.

I can't find anything on my Lion drive about unistall.

Like I said PSE earlier versions had always let you set location and language as part of the install. And the install also included an unistaller for that app.

I wound up with an English installation which I guess is based on my location and account in MAS.

meino-w where did you download to, meaning your location?

I have to say that I am not impressed with how MAS handles this. It is also a different package than you would get from Adobe.

I am sorry that I don't have any answers, I am left with just questions myself.

Those are questions that you all should bring to the attention of Adobe. Adobe is the developer who has decided to not provide the resources for multiple languages in the app they sell through the MAS, not Apple. The MAS sells the app that Adobe supplies.

It's not that simple. The version you buy from Adobe gives the choice of language during install. There is no choice buying from MAS before or after your buy and the download starts - the app is automatically installed. I have a feeling that choice is made in MAS depending on what you have listed in your account under "country/region" The MAS product page clearly states the app can be installed in the four languages included.

I am inclined to disagree with you because these are decisions that Adobe has taken with their product, not Apple and many other 3rd party developers. I have iPhoto from the MAS. If I right click on the iPhoto icon and choose to view the package contents and browse to Contents/Resources, I will find .lproj folders for all the languages Apple offers on Mac OS X. And based on my choices for language in the System preferences iPhoto displays in that language unless it is some obscure language that Apple may have developed for Mac OS X, but has not yet developed for iPhoto.

Adobe has chosen not to provide this product with the customary Mac OS X universal language resource files and yet they have not provided a way for a language choice to be made when someone buys their app through the MAS distribution stream. If the copy is wrong in the product description in the MAS, that is also the responsibility of Adobe, Apple publishes the copy Adobe gives them with the app.

I am inclined to believe that this is a descision to control the language resources of an installation that Adobe has made as part of their antipiracy program for their apps. Not providing universal language resources, as most developers do for the Mac platform, severly limits their product's ability to be pirated.

Dear Dah•veed, according to european law MAS is a (web)shop and like any shop they are responsible for the products they offer in there shop. It is not up to the costumer of the (MAS) shop to contact the producer of the product but up to the "shop owner" to make sure the products they sell are as advertised. So in the case of PSE_10 Editor it is up to MAS to contact Adobe or take the product out of the "shop"

You may believe that, but you also may be badly informed about what European law actually says. Anyway Apple disagrees with you. Here is the agreement that you made with Apple when you made your purchase;

You acknowledge that the license to each Apple Product that you obtain through the Mac App Store or App Store is a binding agreement between you and iTunes. You acknowledge that: once you acquire a Third-Party Product from iTunes, you are entering into a binding agreement directly with the Publisher of that Third-Party Product governing your use of that Third-Party Product; and iTunes is not a party to the license between you and the Publisher with respect to that Third-Party Product. The Publisher of each Third-Party Product is solely responsible for that Third-Party Product, the content therein, any warranties to the extent that such warranties have not been disclaimed, and any claims that you or any other party may have relating to that Third-Party Product.

All this discussion has done nothing to solve your problem.

You deleted the MAS purchase from your computer according to Apple's instructions for uninstalling a MAS purchase. No other choice since an uninstaller was not part of the download. However you still have been charged for that app by MAS.

I agree that MAS is responsible for the problem since where ever the promotional material came from it advertised the app could be installed in a choice of four languages.

I would suggest you go to the MAS Quick Links support and fill out the form by selecting Account and Billing asking for a refund since the product did not perform as advertised.

And in the future we all should keep in mind that as Dah.veed explained the MAS is nothing more than a simplified vending machine - buyer beware.
