iOS 5.0.1 problems - Searching for Network and battery life still isnt great.

So I dont know if anyone else is having this problem but I upgrade to iOS 5.1 today and it seems to me that my network is being dropped A LOT today. I know it probably doesnt help that I'm on T-Mobile with a factory unlocked iPhone 4 but it seems that before I upgraded, I was able to keep my network for a longer amount of time. Also, I think iOS 5.1 actually made the battery life worse. Im down to 40% and thats without any calls, a few texts and very little wifi surfing.

Reply if your having the same problem lol

You're right, Me too I'm now paying a monthly fee to use an iPod Touch!

I really hope, and I appeal to APPLE to resolve this FAST! I need my phone and I find it inadmissible that an appliance like this should show such important bugs! What about the 'lost' iPhones that appeared during the last months. Did the guys supposed to test them just lug them around to lose them?

PLEASE APPLE, react! And this time do it for good. Acknowledge the bugs officially and do something.

At lease let us downgrade to 5.0.0 - in a pinch I can live with charging the phone twice a day, but it's not possible without network!

If any APPLE guy reads this, we are counting on you to act, immediately. And we want an explanation, now.

Thanks a lot!

@ Frank

I am from Luxembourg too. And I am experiencing the same network issues. Where did you get the iPhone from? Carrier or Online Apple Store? Because I talked to an Apple Senior Advisor this morning. They will take my iPhone back for repair, give me 4S as a replacement in the meantime and send me the repaired phone or a new one in 7 days max.

All,

I had the same problems as listed in this forum (no service, invalid sim, loosing network/carrier connectivity, etc.). So, yesterday (Friday CET) I got hold of a new micro-SIM to see if this would work, as the SIM I used was a normal SIM card cut to micro-SIM size from my old iPhone 3GS.

After running on this for about 24 hours I can honestly say that this has improved my iOS 5.0.1 experience dramatically! I can call people, send SMS, the works... without problems. Been using the phone the whole day.

However, I had 2 drops during calls today, but it's hard for me to blame it on 5.0.1 as the other end of the call might have been on a bad receiption. I experienced also 1 "searching... no service... then back to normal event" during the day, but this was about it. Still, it's a huge improvement compared to when I was running on my old SIM card....as this one kept dropping every couple of minutes due to the "no service" problem.

Just thought I'd let everyone here know this. Perhaps it might be of use to others.

This iOS 5.0 is not just about 'a few' battery issues. Apart from a weak battery stamina that became worse since yesterdays update to 5.0.1, I encounter massive issues with my connectivity to my phone operator, this update messed up my phone. I am really sick and tired of it. Despite having worked me through a complete re-set and a few complete shut-downs: I cannot make phone calls any longer. No connection to the net, no service, drop outs, full stop. Once in a while I come through, but most of the time there is no connection. This is really, really annoying. Pull yourself together at get this fixed, Apple!

I restarted the phone, switched WiFi off, came through and could make calls. As soon as I switch WiFi on, the signal drops and I cannot call any longer. This is just pathetic performance, Apple, honestly!

@bushmills....i have the same problems. When i called Apple Support they said they have never heard about this problem and was able to help, they just said to take the phone to ah Apple Store to run a test on it. This is really disgusting as my phone worked perfectly fine before i did the upgrade to the 5.0.1. Why dont apple atleast actknowlege our problems, Im so fustrated about this.

I agree, Ranram318, I have not had these problems before yesterdays update, at all — the battery issue alright. Something must have gone terribly wrong with this update!. Now my phone is down again, although the antenna symbol shows full blast and 3G, I cannot make no phone calls, and I constantly receive the message: "call failed" instead. I am so frustrated, I don't even want to ring to Apple service to complain to them and listen to their usual never-heard-of-just-try-again-there-will-probably-be-an-update-soon-jargon. This iOS 5.0.1 is just such a mess, admit it Apple, and figure it out NOW. My problem is, I cannot call or be called until they come up with a solution, unless I use another phone.
