After getting good battery life on my iPhone 4s by disabling location services, I installed iOS 5.0.1 today.  Battery life is now WORSE than it was before on iOS 5.0.   C'mon Apple!  This is ridiculous.

I have a factory unlocked iPhone 4s, I'm using t-mobile and I keep loosing signal... I'm not able to make any calls and none of my text (SMS) messages are going through ever since I have updated to iOS 5.0.1

After making more space on my boot drive which contains the system, I finally sucessfully installed iOS 5.0, but reading this bulitin boad there seems a lots of problems installing either 5.1 or 5.01.

Has anyone managed to actually sucessfully install these new iOS's without loss of performance, losing files, network and reception problems? Don't want to install either new iOS until I know it is relatively safe!

Yeah Im in the same boat.  Just last night, I think my service was dropped at least a dozen times within an hour.  Sometimes, it will drop for only a few seconds.  Other times, it will be dropped for a few minutes.  Its actually quite irritating because before updating to iOS 5.1, my network never dropped out and I am in excellent range of T-Mobile's service so Im blaming this one on Apple.  As far as the battery issue goes, Im still waiting to see if my battery life has improved or not.  I purposely drained the battery last night down to 2%, gave it a full charge over night, took it off the charger this morning at 5:30.  Here it is, a little after 8am and its holding steady at 87% but I also havent called anyone, surfed all that much or texted anyone and I made sure to turn off any non-essential location service stuff just to save a few drops of juice.

But this dropped network issue is really irritating, annoying and unacceptable.  I didnt pay $700 for my phone to get service only half the time because of a software issue that shouldnt have been affected in the first place!

    Hello from France

I also updated to IOS 5.1 thinking it would fix the 3G network connectivity BUT it didn't

I'm getting VERY IMPATIENT now. I scheduled a rendez-vous at the genius bar risking to get a REFURB !!!!!!!!

They didn't even talked about the connectivity issue in the IOS 5.1 Fixed bugs résumer ...

heyy i upgraded to ios 5.0.1 and my battery is same as 5.0 but facing network connectivity issues

  • Akaroxyrox Level 1 (0 points)

Yes same here... Like my 3GS wasn't slow enough to start (16GB with 4gb free space) with it's now dropping signal constanlty all the time the only way to get it back is to turn off and turn back on again. And then it shows 'searching' for ages! The battery life and charge time both rubbish too.

Just thought I would let everybody know I have just upgraded an iPhone 3GS, iPad and iPad 2 to the new iOS without any problems I can detect so far. Called Apple first and the only useful comment they made was ensure I had the device plugged into a computer with a cable and do not attempt with WiFi/iCloud etc. All's well that ends well. I hope!

    Exact issue I posted before.

    Iphone 4s 32 GB (black)

    Issues/Steps Taken:

    2) Service No network

for the above checked with coworker running iOs5 side by side and they had service (not a network issue)

    3) Reset Network - worked for a few minutes then noticed NO SERVICE again

    4) Performed a Hard Reset (Home Button & Power On/Off) - worked for a while then NO SERVICE again

    5) Under Carrier switched from both Automatic from On to Off, received service then a short time later NO SERVICE. Switched it back on.

    6) Powered Phone On & Off several times

I can't check my phone every few minutes but within the last hour and a half I would say it lost service once since doing all the above.

We should all post in clear concise actions what steps we have done and results.  This may be able to assist Apple in rectifying our issues.  I'm frustrated (and concerned about this. I have a family emergency that may require a call to me at any time) but to continually complain will get me nowhere and I NEED a working phone.

Apple if you're listening please contact me and I will test/install, report anything required of me to have this issues rectified.

5.0.1 is  broken. Battery life is terrible.

    5.0.1 is worser than 5.0.

Updated my iPhone 4 from iOS 5 to 5.0.1 and this was a big mistake.

Pandora and iHeartRadio just drains the battery (almost 10% and hour).

Not sure how much testing went into iOS 5.0.1 before they released it to us.

Come on Apple. Either fix 5.0.1 asap or give us a way to go back to 5.0.

I´m having the same problem here in Brazil with my iPhone 4S factory unlocked (UK) since i updated to iOS 5.0.1. Anyone knows how to solve it?

  • katfromprague Level 1 (0 points)

same problem with network service (iPhone 4S, T-Mobile, Czech Republic) after updating to iOS 5.0.1, tried restart, restoring network settings, restoring all settings, still can't call/text. I now have a very expensive ipod instead of a phone I paid for:(

I am convinced that the OS upgrade has actually worsened the battery situation. After upgrading OS at 73% charge, I switched on the DREADED Location Services -reputed to be the monster that eats battery life- for 15 mins, then saw the fast drain and switched it off. The draining of battery continues unabated. I went out for lunch for 30 mins and started the bluetooth for taking a call in my car - BIG MISTAKE !

Cmon Apple - 5S was better.
