iOS 5.0.1 - Made my iPhone 4S battery performance worse!

I upgraded my iphone 4S to the 5.0.1 release today. However, I've noticed that my battery life has actually gotten worse since I upgrade. For example, I've been home for approximately 30 minutes and my battery has gone down in 8%. In the 30 minutes, I had a 30 second phone call and sent 3 text messages. I am connected to our wi-fi (which is a strong connection) and I have re-started my phone.

Please let me know if anyone else is having any issues!?!!?

Apple - Can you please fix the iphone 4s battery issues? I might as well go get a 4g android phone if the battery life remains this poor.

everything is turned off as suggested by, well everyone. but actually whats the point in having an i phone if you have to turn everything off? I didnt buy this phone to spend all weekend trying to fix it.

will give it a week or so then drop it on the shop to sort.

Another update... I noticed that on my Windows machine, the iCloud service bookmarkDav was periodically consuming processes and had a huge memory footprint (600mb). I have always had this wierd problem were if I enabled bookmark sync I would get copies of coppies of the same bookmarks.

So anyways I am thinking that maybe the bookmark syncing is broken somehow so I have disabled the iCloud bookmark option. I did notice that since disabling the bookmark sync the process usage on my phone is down.

Seems like less battery consumption so far but we shall see from a full charge.

hey everyone 🙂

firstly yes the issues with the battery is well......poo to put it nicely.

I may have found a way to combat this for us iPhone 4 users ( not sure whether this works on the other models as I only have the 4 )

I upgraded the other night to IOS 5.1 and my battery ran out in half a day without even being used at all.

I decided once I had it at full charge again to totally drain it of power via the light on the video camera.

Once the discharge was complete I just plugged it in at the wall and my iPhone booted back up and charged merily all night (approx 8 hours)

I have used it all day today for various calls sms etc and I am currently sitting on 86% battery life still.

Now saying this I am hoping that at some point today it doesnt jump down by 50% in life and prove me a liar but so far so good.

Worth a try to make your "mobile phone" mobile again instead of hanging around a constant power source to keep it going 😝

I purchased this phone for what it could do, not for what it could do if I turned off all of the bells and whistles that influenced my decision to purchase it in the first place! This is my result after using the phone for nothing but internet browsing over a wifi connection at home. Oh yeah, my mail fetches every hr or so, and I have installed the 5.1 upgrade.

Sorry but that's rubbish. I charged my phone last night to 100% went sleep and woke up and it's now at 20%. No usage at all as I was asleep. Now rather then just heading out I have to wait for it to charge again. It's already dropped another 4% while I'm reading this thread and I'm only on page 3! This is awful Apple!

This is your phone, not Apple's. You need to figure out what applications and settings you have that drain your battery.

If you have not done so, you may wish to use Reset All Settings, or at least Reset Network Settings.

If this does not help, you need to find out what application is running all the time on your phone and take measures to either disable it, or reconfigure it.

By the way, why would you remove your iPhone from the charger overnight? Just leave it plugged in and in the morning you start the day with full battery.
