iOS 5.0.1 - Made my iPhone 4S battery performance worse!

I upgraded my iphone 4S to the 5.0.1 release today. However, I've noticed that my battery life has actually gotten worse since I upgrade. For example, I've been home for approximately 30 minutes and my battery has gone down in 8%. In the 30 minutes, I had a 30 second phone call and sent 3 text messages. I am connected to our wi-fi (which is a strong connection) and I have re-started my phone.

Please let me know if anyone else is having any issues!?!!?

Apple - Can you please fix the iphone 4s battery issues? I might as well go get a 4g android phone if the battery life remains this poor.

iPhone 4S, iOS 5, Verizon

- I have two email accounts set to fetch every hour

- notifications include: twitter, phone, messages, viber, calendar, mail, weather, sports

- wifi on only at home, not during 8-10 hours while at work

- 3G toggled off all the time (since the ios 5.1 update)

- location services on, system services off

- Siri on, raise to speak off

- dont have yahoo messenger or facebook app actively running all the time; will check facebook periodically

- bluetooth always off, dont need it

As for use, I play some games on it and use the internet a fair amount. I use it for music a lot as well. I guess mostly browsing, music, youtube, mail, messaging, and games.

Battery is draining super fast after newest update that was released on 03/08/2012 I went to bed with it at 100% woke up with it at 80% normally it would be around 96%..............A lot of other issues as well like signal strength which went from 4 to 5 bars now down to 1 to 2 bars everywhere I go. 4G now instead of 3G which you think would be faster instead all it does is search and I am forced to switch to my WiFi. AT&T first says there going to cap and slow down people who have unlimated data plans and now this. I dont know why I am forced to have a Data plan at all if I hard get any kind of data and when I do its slow and always lugging. I might as well be on the edge network for it was faster. Another way that the Rich continue to rob from the poor and we have no controll over it but to complain !!

Check out the comments at the end of the link. Most people had one of a few things happening

1) CPU running full time

2) icloud issues with contacts and other stuff

3) Location services

4) Mail moved automatically to push instead of manual

5) Calendar sync issues

I downloaded a free cpu monitor (AAi) and went through all of their suggestions one by one. I had a few things eating up my CPU running at 60%+ when nothing was running and iCloud doing something eating up power.

I honeslty never normally moan about these things. I always try and give a good chance and just ignore any moaning.

However, this is my first post on a Apple forum and I felt I needed post about the battery life drain I have noticed since upgrading to iOS 5.1.

Within one hour of some light texting at home my battery has fallen from 100% to 59%.

Before 5.1 or even 5.0.1, I never had any issues with the battery life but since putting 5.1 on, It cant go unoticed this time.

I have restored the iPhone 4S from iTunes with the hope it would sort it but still no change. I am not too sure what apple changed to to make the battery life better but it seems to be worse.

I am sure they will sort it but it is just annoying that an update has made it worse.

Anyone with any tweaks or fixes, please let me know.

Cheers

Luke 🙂

I posted yesterday with the same battery issue...

I checked for app updates and low and behold there were a whole slew of iCloud, and other Apple apps to update. So after doing this and dissabling blue tooth I am sitting at 48% from 100% in 5 hrs with light usage.
(txting, no calls, reading emails, 15 min email push.)

Not great but better then before. Maybe there was an app messing with location services?

🙂🙂🙂 I FIXED MY BATTERY ISSUE 🙂🙂🙂 : Since making the changes below a couple hours ago my battery drain has been significantly reduced. Its nothing that I saw on these boards like turning on and off wifi. My CPU usage is consistent below 10% now even with a lot running where before it was around 60% idle. I HIGHLY recommend trying some of the stuff people said as comments from the link below.

Does anyone else have issues with the latest update of software 5.1? Tried to download it numerous times since last night and it won't download from the server.

My MacBook Pro runs Snow Leopard, my iTunes version is 10.6, both of which are functioning completely fine.

Both my iPhone 4s and my iPad2 function completely well on their own too, all three devices are able to download any thing except this dam software update 5.1.

My internet wifi connection is strong also.

So my thinking is that theproblem lies with their server?

Is any one else having issues with this update 5.1?
