iOS 5.0.1 - Made my iPhone 4S battery performance worse!

leider the problem persist. I have exactly the same applications running on my old iPhone4 and all works well.

My iPhon 4S goes down in one day without using nothing (no application, no phoning, no game...) is it normal?

All people with 4S that I know they have the same problem.

Well not its not normal for it to die in 1 day if you are not using it. Did you perform the reset and calibration posted by Davidch? Very important to do the entire process just as written. Or alternately you can erase and reset like a brand new phone and see how it works. Some have said that a DFU restore has solved it as well. You can google that if you want to try it. iOS 5.1 should be out soon and it could resolve as well.

Tried everything as instructed mutiple times, and other fixes and tips from other forums, still doesn't do a thing.

How about we wait for iOS 5.1 final before we all get crazy about this issue.

I believe that apple is trying to fix their mistake. It's just a waiting game. Once iOS 5.1 final is released things should go back to normal. If it doesn't then go with android. I'm sure you will have a so much better experience... Just because the 5.0.1 didn't fix it for most, we don't need to go saying that apple isnt doing anything to fix it.

Same problem here (Portugal).

Put the iPhone to charge yesterday. Unplugged it at 2.30AM (100%) and went to sleep.

Woke up at 11h, surprise, surprise: it drained 29%!! This is not normal! It just cannot be!!

At 5AM I woke up and took a peek at the clock - 97%! "This is great!", I thought... At 11AM - 71%...

With NO USE, ALL apps off (not one in the background, I always check by double clicking the Home Button), 3G off, Wi-fi off, push off, fecth mail off, diagnosis off, Siri off, Location Services off, everything you can imagine: OFF!! ****, It makes me wonder why on earth I want an iPhone for???!

Just a terrible disapointment 😟 and it's better than it was, so you can see that it was REALLY bad!

Already did restore's in DFU mode, not in DFU mode, reset network connection, reset data, bla bla bla, bla bla bla...

I can't understand what's going on because, it's 14:15PM and The battery is at: 66%, which means a loss of 5% in 3 hours...everything off, no calls or text messages, pretty much the same as during the night...so why this inconsistant behaviour??!! I don't get it...I just don't!!

We all have the right to go crazy considering how much we paid for it with our hard earn money. This issue shouldn't be even happening in the first place.

That's true but the way I see it there are 2 choices, 1: Wait until Apple has a chance to fix it and enjoy the phone when they do. 2: Return it and buy something else you don't like as well.

It is certainly frustratingly I understand but its not ALL iPhone's that are having this issue. A small percentage are being effected and Apple is working on a solution to those. It it were every device it would be an easier fix but since its such a small number of devices (considering how many there are out there) it makes it more difficult to pinpoint why just those have the issue and not all of them. For now if you have tried all the solutions, and have tried the phone in its default configuration without a ton of 3rd party apps and still have the issue you may consider returning/exchanging the device you have.

Apple does not even acknowledge officially the battery issue. According to Apple the battery issue has been fixed in iOS 5.0.1 and that's it. There is no mention of battery fix in iOS 5.1 beta 1 or iOS 5.1 beta 2 which was released yesterday. Therefore Apple is not working on a battery fix right now!!! Now Apple is concentrating on improving features into iOS 5.1 like photo streaming which is much more important than fixing than battery issue (sarcasm)...

Oh ok. My apologies. Then I suppose perhaps you guys will need to decide whether to return you iPhone and get something else or just make sure you have your charger handy.

According to iOS 5.1 beta 2 which was released yesterday they are not working on the battery issue!!! This comes directly from Apple's mouth!

One thing no one has mentioned and it definitely should be mentioned. I hope apple is listening as well. I think the may problem is not software or hardware or anything per say. What I think it is actually is a design flaw. I believe the actual problem is the battery is NOT BIG enough to support the components in this phone under such varied amounts of usage. In other words, I think the fact that apple released much faster components, while still using one of the smallest batteries for a mobile phone has a lot to do with it. Dont get me wrong I have a 4S myself, but I have come to this conclusion. I have bought a battery case. And also, apple. If you dont get it right with a much bigger battery and screen... hello andriod!

thanks man, i jailbroke my ipod and i was using installous, i rebooted my ipod but it wouldn't so i went into itunes and updated into ios 5.1 beta 2, now downgrading back to 5.0.1 and then re jailbreak. thanks you are a LIFE SAVER! my dad wouldve killed me...

I have a bad feeling about this i think it's a hardware issue! My first iPhone 4S had a static noise problem and the battery problem as well, I upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 and still both problems were there, I went to the apple store and replaced it on warranty static problem was gone but the battery is even worse! iOS 5.0.1 was supposed to fix it but actually it got worse for me! My friend has an apple developer account and he is using the latest 5.1 beta and he says no change in battery life!!! So Im fearing that apple doesn't know what to do because it's not a software issue.

Its a software problem, other iphone 4 users have this problem after updating to iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1.

There are others annoyin bugs in iOS im using iPhone 4s and im a bit disapointed, for the first iPhone, the phone is excelent but these kind of "i dont admit and i dont fix" policy of Apple is very stupid. Just launch a patch like they have done before. I dont have Messaging (SMS) sound alert cause there is a bug that repeats 2 or 3 times almost simultaniously the sound of the alert. Its a noob bug, i dont know if its fixed on 5.1 beta2.

Im here reporting the same old to pressure Apple admitting this is a problem. I just paid 600€ for a phone that has noob software mistakes? This isnt admitable.
