Iphone 4s Battery life WORSE with upgrade. Anyone else seeing same?
I upgraded my new iPhone 4s today and now my battery life is so much worse. I can literally watch it drain by the minute. Is anyone else experiencing this?
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1

Holman,
I've done everything this thread recommends. Now I just need to find time to get a replacement from the genius bar, as that seems like my only option currently.
Mattlaw,
I understand and agree, it is a pain in the arse!!! But you could always try the Delete and manually reinstall your email first.
Some have gotten good results with just the email trick, even back in the 3S days.
menace,
I am really sorry nothing worked for you.
If you go to the Genius Bar you may have to be a (nice) but a little forceful and just really insist on a replacement unit, new of course.
As indicated in other post in this thread they are on the "Kick" of telling customers "That is normal". But if you are under the thirty day mark you can get pushy and just insist on a "New" replacement. Just don't get mad like I would and end up p-ing them off. That prompts the Genius guy into telling the store manager you are an unreasonable customer and he may just turn you down for that reason alone.
Good luck and let us know how it works out.
Luckily, I used to work at the store, (about 10 years ago, but the same manager still runs it). Hopefully this will give me a little extra consideration.
menace,
This just in from "AppleInsider", this should warm the cockles of your heart... whatever that means.

Just an after thought... think we should take a poll on how many of us think the new 5.02 will fix the problem. Don't know about ya-all but I have been here before on the last two models of iPhones. 😝 I know "Ye of little faith"
The report claims that Apple's internal goal is for iOS 5.0.2 to provide iPhone 4S users 40 hours of standby with 10 hours of active use
Ha! I couldn't get anywhere near 10 hours if I were only on wifi all day.
Amen !!! brother Mattlay.
Hope Apple don't give us 10hrs of usage. I'm getting 14-18hrs at the moment ;-)
iOS 5.0.1 is way harder on the battery here tooo... 25% loss in an hour.... wish i would have just stayed with 5.0
CliveS,
14-18 hrs of use... Hmmm... Is that that with or without your 1400 mAh milli Power Pack add-on?
:-) No power pack and I would say my use is average. Facebook, Google maps, Twitter, Approx 30min GPS use.
Email set to Fetch at 1hr intervals. Brightness 40%. App updates, web browsing, camera, Youtube.... all average stuff on a mix of 3G and WiFi.
Today has been a little quiter than normal, as I have been driving. Took my 4S off charge at 0930 today. Now 2050... 11hrs 20min still showing 75%.
Before I turned off icloud push, I was at about 45% same time in the evening.
I certainly won't be updating to 5.0.2 until it's a confirmed 'fix'.
I am waiting for local stock to arrive on the 4s before upgrading my steam driven 3gs and the new upgrade has destroyed my battery life. Now down to less than 2 hours active use - I am a light user and the battery life was more than double before the latest 5.0.1 upgrade!!!
I am now considering other options for my upgrade.
CliveS,
You are either the a greatest poker player in the world or you have the greatest iPhone EVER. OK - maybe both!
If I ever get my hands on an iPhone that gives 14 to 18 hours of usage I will have it gold plated, never let it out of my hands. Oh - and out of respect there will be no recycling for a phone like that I will change my will to have it buried with me.
😁
LOL - don't play Poker.
Guess I am lucky. Never had any problems with my Original iPhone, 3GS and now a 4S.
Must admit battery on 3GS doesn't like 5.0.1 though, but I put that down to it's age and the number of charges. I find 3GS too slow with iOS5 anyway.
Today, it's fine. My suspicion is that it had something to do with iTunes Match. The matching process was running all day yesterday, uploading unmatched songs. I wonder if after each song was uploaded, it sent a message to all my iOS devices saying "This song is now available!" As the day went on, it did this literally over 1,000 times. Now that the matching is done, everything seems fine.
I'm writing this about the same time as yesterday when my battery was at 18%. Today, I'm at 65% right now, and I've even been using the phone a lot more than yesterday.
