Iphone 4s Battery life WORSE with upgrade. Anyone else seeing same?

I upgraded my new iPhone 4s today and now my battery life is so much worse. I can literally watch it drain by the minute. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I also have an iPhone 4S and was waiting patiently for this update because I expected Apple to fix the problem. Instead its MUCH worse. I went from 6-8 hours of standby time with light usage (email over wifi, some Tiny Towers) to 4 hours. My original iPhone 4 gave me 12-16 hours with the same usage. iPhone 4S was not worth the upgrade at all, especially considering I bought mine outright and the 64 gig version with Applecare. I want my thousand dollars back or a fix that works.

Bought the 4S yesterday and the battery is horrible! I updated the software and now it literally drains 1% every minute! Very frustrating! If I wanted horrible battery life I would have purchased an Android with more features and better specs than the 4S! Stuck with apple bc of the awesome battery. If its not fixed within 29 days I'm taking it back!

Yes, experiencing worse battery performance after update. I had Apple ship a replacement phone in the hopes that it would fix the problem. After updating to 5.0.1 yesterday I am now experiencing even more of a drain. For instance I have lost 35% in the past 2.5 hours with no abnormal/heavy use. I have turned off all unecessary location settings, including auto time zone (but really, Apple, I shouldn't have to do that!)

This is my first iPhone, and thus far it has not been a good experience. I love my iPad 2 and MacBook Pro, althought it really drains too! I expect much higher standards from Apple and we should be treated with a new update to remedy the situation quickly! I expect RIM to rush to market with flawed products, but not Apple.

I write a blog about my life with Apple in the business and personal world, and I can ensure you, this will be a hot topic.

Please know you will find another issue with replacement devices. The screen will appear yellow and dingy at first. Apparantly it is supposed to go away. We'll see.

It's no doubt that it made the issue worse. But even before the update average standby time was at best 14 hours testing with 25 iPhone 4s at my office. That's far below the 200 hours Apple claims. News sites are now reporting this all over the place. It doesn't appear to be an issue that Apple can or even knows how to fix at this point. Turning off this and that, isn't the fix. Being forthright about the limitations of the device at this point is.

I agree. I stayed up till 3 am on 10/8 to order the 4S and since Day 2, it started giving me battery problems. To stop the drain which was literally happening in front of their eyes, the Apple Store in Houston replaced by iphone 4S. I tried all the "fixes" - notifications - off/Wi-Fi - off when traveling et al until my Iphone 4S was no longer a smart phone but just one of those $0 /$20 wal mart go phones. That helped improve battery life to some extent. Today after I upgraded the OS it has started to drain out much fatser. From 73% charge to 19% charge in 5 hours with light usage - maxm 1 hour of talk. I have corporate email on the iphone but being worktime, am using my laptop. Hence also, no music, video, gps et al. Apple needs to recognize that whichever OEM made the 4S batteries did a bad job and issue new power supplies here.

My 4S had poor battery life when I got it two weeks ago, and with the update it is very noticeably worse. I have location on only for my camera, and cellular data off, and I use it for 15 minutes to take a couple of pictures, look at my photo stream, look at my email, and it's down five percent in that small amount of time. Frustrating. I don't want to have to keep it plugged in all the time or buy a battery pack!

no problems and battery was working fine on my 2 week old 4S, upgraded to 5.0.1, now the battery is way worse, wifi signal not as strong where is was before and cell signal worse in same spots as before. called tech support no way to go back to just 5.0, i could try taking back to apple store and get a new phone with thats on the previous software 5.0 , i guess.
