Iphone 4s Battery life WORSE with upgrade. Anyone else seeing same?

I upgraded my new iPhone 4s today and now my battery life is so much worse. I can literally watch it drain by the minute. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi have read many posts and read via other blogs about the battery issue. My 4s running ios 5 did seem to drain fast. I switched off all location services that I did not require and also system services which I did not need. Updated to ios 5.01 last night. Iphone from 100% charge unplugged at 12 noon today. Used it for 20 mins faceTime, about 50 txts, 3 phone calls, half hr of listening to music, and checked manually for emails 6 times. battery percentage now reads 70% at 11.30 pm. A 30% drop in this time I feel is very good. My theory is that some batteries are faulty as not everyone is having same problems. Maybe Apple should be looking into this more.

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue as matt! Not only battery life has dramatically become worse after 5.0.1 update, but the phone is not displaying usage times any more. Battery life wasn't at all brilliant with 5.0 on board, but I could easily reach bed time with about 40% charge. Now, I'm getting 5% after 12 hours. something was very wrong with this update, definitely. iPhone 4S 32G White.

I, too, am still experiencing battery issues. I have to say that my battery drainage is SLIGHTLY better than before, insofar as I did not have to recharge my phone at 2 PM. However, at 5 PM, my battery life was less than 20%. I have 4 kids to run around after and went to three different stores to do grocery shopping, etc.--I did NOT use my phone enough to warrant my poor battery life! Here's to hoping for a better fix to the problem!

Me the same! Before upgrading to the 5.0.1, i never felt the pro of battery, normally the using time were over 6 hrs n lasting at least 1 day! now after upgrading, i am just sitting here n watching the battery drops from 75% to 70% in only 30 mins!!!! Besides, apple even shut down the access to the downrestore! Can any one from apple support department do sth?

I upgraded to the iPhone 4S from the 3GS. I was trying to hold out for the "iPhone 5", before using my upgrade (lol). Compelled by all of the new features of the 4S in comparison to the one I was using, there was no possible way to wait any longer... At least this is what I thought was a smart decision at the time, yeah right, what a joke! Being that I am a devout apple customer, owning multiple iMacs, multiple MacBook pro's, and using 2 different Mac Pro models to run and support our family business, a digital recording studio; I never even stopped to think for one second about battery issues in any apple products! My history with apple until this instance has actually been stellar, given I've read the horror stories and heard many of the "urban legends" about disgruntled customers and their refusal to ever buy apple again. These same people are always the first fanboys ink know to line up when apple releases a new product. However, this time I actually have my own truly horrible experience, and with this audacity of an update it keeps getting worst.

Is there nothing that can be done???? I have turned off everything that I possibly can, and more than I ever should have to using a smart phone, in order to get a battery that has to be charge not once but twice a day if I use the Internet for more than 30 minutes a day, listen to my iPod to and from work on a 15 minute commute and a 30 minute lunchbreak, and send the occasional text, not even utilizing the phone for email in fear the battery will drain more quickly and I'll miss a client calling with an emergency. I'm so frustrated mainly because I can actually watch the percentage of battery power drain 1% every 2 minutes until it gets to 85% then I get about 1% every 4-6 after if I'm not using my "smart phone"! I hate to b$tch, but not only was this $300, but if u add in my 2 year contract extension and all the iPhone plan rates etc... I should be talking on a new Mac book pro right now lol.

Please just fix it. It's an amazing idea, and could be an incredibly ingenious piece of hardware, but that's not the case if it doesn't work. Seriously I'm sending this message from my 3GS because the 4s is dead, really????

my battery life is significantly worse since installing ios 5.0.1

I have the 4S, 32 gig and initially had battery drain issue, daining around 10% an hour on standby. I switched off most of the location based services, most of the notifications, siwthced off all the system services, switched off wifi ad bluetooth and just kept the basic functions and it worked great! was going down 1-2% an hour on standby and last me the entire day with light use.

I thought the 5.0.1 would further improve battery life but since dowloading it, im draining at around 5-7% an hour on standy and quicker when i use the phone.

It is a lot worse now cuz there is nothing else i can swtich off (apart from the effing phone itself!)

So no, not only 5.0.1 didnt help, it has made it significantly worse.

Any ways i can revert it back to 5.0?

It seems that Apple fired off this update half baked. They took an incomplete look at people having issues...fixed those without looking at all the problems...which leaves a lot of other folks out in the cold.

On my iPhone 4, I have turned off nearly every notification and my battery seems better than my wife's 4s which is pretty much just stock..I've left it all default and it's falling pretty quickly. She went from 100% to 35% in 4 hours with little or no usage. Hopefully the next update will fix our issues too.

It would be nice to compare settings with someone who is not having any issues with those of us that who have an issue with the battery.

According to AllThingsD they have acknowledged there is a problem and they are looking into it...sure would have been nice if they said that to those of us commenting on their own discussion board....
