Iphone 4s Battery life WORSE with upgrade. Anyone else seeing same?

I upgraded my new iPhone 4s today and now my battery life is so much worse. I can literally watch it drain by the minute. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've only had this particular phone for 2 days. But owning iPhones constantly since 2007, I can tell you this same thing happened when ios3 came out in 2008. It was a battery picture issue. And this is doing the exact same thing. The last 3% of the phone lasting a very long time. Not saying its not happening to you. This is just what I have observed.

This is ******* me off, there is something so wrong with this update. I got better battery life on my iPhone for 1 day, i got about 14 hours standby and 4 - 5 hours usage and my phone was only at about 50%. I let it discharge and recharge and now i'm getting about 2 hours usage and just a few hours standby. My gf usage is less than 2 hours and her phone just rapidly discharges. ***? FYI i have verizon and she has at&t.

As in my previous posts, I'm not showing any signs of massive battery drainage. I continue to use my phone quite a lot through the day and only charge it overnight. The exception is if I'm using gps alot via my Tom Tom app. I did listen to the "blah blah blah" of others and took their advice. My update to 5.01 has gone fine. I still say it is a hardware prob, faulty battery etc rather than put all blame on software. I agree that certain settings can drain power more but not everyone uses their phone in the same way. I like my screen quite dim, others might like it bright. I turn off Siri raise to speak, others may like the effect it gives rather than press a button. If you put faulty fuel in a garage then all cars filling up with it will show faults. iOS 5.01 is not showing fault on all phones so can't be just to blame. If so, can someone exain to me why my phone is fine? Yes the iphone cud be better, software cud do more and battery life improved. But there are also thousands of people with perfectly working iPhones who don't need to voice their concerns on forums. Are we in the minority or majority?

Yes, I would have to agree and say that my battery life is not better (and maybe worse) after the upgrade. My phone was plugged in the charger all last night. I unplugged it from the charger at 11:00 am today. It is now 8 pm (9 hours later). I had 1 hour of talk time; the rest was standby. It is now on 46% power. At the rate I'm going, doesn't look like it will last throughout the night. I thought I read something about 200 hours of standby time promised- and 8 hours of talk time. Plus, I did most of the suggested settings adjustments: Looks like I'm losing approximately 6% battery power an hour. I've been on WiFi all day; didn't do any web surfing; deleted a few emails. Took a few pictures. What a difference from my old, antiquated cellphone that I hung onto thinking that it's battery was going stale on me. In retrospect, that battery was, up until I upgraded, lasting 2 1/2 days, and I thought that was bad. HaHa.... never even imagined that my brand new iphone 4S was going to be worse.

After upgrading to 5.0.1 on my iPhone 4S, it has been a disaster. Get stuck in set up when trying to get my contacts. Phone loops which I belive is part of the increased battery drainage problem. iCloud will not function. I have never had problems like I now have. Tried restoring to factory settings with 5.0.0 (had no problems except slight battery drain). Did not restore to 5.0.0, kept 5.0.1 on phone.

There certainly are not many of us who's phones are working well. Or maybe not many who feel the need to post. I think there are 3 or 4 in the past 2 days of following the issue. I also have an Ipad 2 and have no issues with that either. My phone is lasting over 24 hours the last charge lasted 26 hours and during that time I spoke with my sister on the phone for 1.5 hours... both my 4S and my old 3GS had to be charged a couple of times a day.. if I charged it in the morning I had to charge it again at night. every few days I could get away with one charge a day... but never more than a 24 hour period. I'm hoping the fix for the other phones won't ruin my battery life.

Really did not have problem with my 4S battery life. It certainly wasn't better than

My 4. However, once I updated to 5.0.1, my 4S went ballistic.

I cannot add my iCloud account, mail accounts, can't get all my

Contacts. Set up loops constantly. Did a "restore" in iTunes and lost more

Information. This a disaster, for me at least. When I called Apple Care the day this all

started I was told by the rep that she "just" received an email

Exposing that Apple was having problems with their iCloud

servers. That smells just those stupid sales people who all of a

Sudden they were promoted and can offer a great deal.

Why can't they just admit there are problems and send out information explaining such.

In the meantime we are all trying everything under the sun to resolve our problems.

Poor Steve Jobs must be really upset.

It is worse, and this is a travesty. I've heard all the fixes which aren't fixes but compromises. It's like buying a Lexus which has a problem with overheating once you go over 50. So Lexus comes back and tells you not to drive over 50. So not the point. You buy a premium phone to get premium use out of it. Not compromise it because it's unable to perform to it's own standard.

All the things Apple tells us to turn off are the very things they tout as making their phone so much better than the rest. The fact is that this phone, while a good phone, is an epic fail based on the fact that Apple didn't make the battery sufficient enough for the load. Likely the reason that standby time was left out of the product introduction.

A sourced story hitting the newswires is that Apple knew of the battery issue before shipping. Just as they did about the antenna issues in the 4.

But it's not a travesty because the battery isnt sufficient, but because of how Apple has handled this.

Apple are you listening? I've owned and avangelized Apple products since the time of the Apple I. No product is perfect, and your products are the best there is. But the secrecy of which you operate is wearing thin. Companies have gone the way of the dodo because they got sloppy and worst were not up front with their customers.

I read today that you are aware of this and are working on another fix. Fine. But that should be in an email to every Apple iPhone 4s owner and posted in these forums as well as on the website.

Apple is only as great as the customer is happy and satisfied about their product. Right now there are a lot - in the thousands - of unhappy customers. That's not Insanely Great, it's Insanely Lame.

By the way I'm a former Apple high level developer and have done my own tests and have concluded that there is nothing that is going to fix the power issues. You can't take the guts of an iPad 2 and try to power it with a slightly better battery than the iPhone 4. It's not going to happen. Any engineer out there is saying "Amen", they know it too.

So fess us, let people know the truth and I'll bet you that the majority of us will support you. I carry a charger in the car, office, home and even one for an airplane. It doesn't bother me to have to charge it up when it needs it.

Tomorrow I will be on the local AM show in the morning getting interviewed about this same issue. It's heard all across South Florida.
