5.01 made iPhone 4 battery life worse

The battery seems to be draining even faster after installing 5.01 than with 5.0. Is there some sort of hard reset or other voodoo I maybe missed in this process?

What is very frustrating is that Apple's customer service over the phone acts like this is a new problem -- that no one else has it. I was also told it was a hardware problem over the phone and a software problem at the Apple store. It is very frustrating that there is not a clear answer or resolution.

I plan to go back to the store over the weekend and see what else can be done.

Excuse my launguage but when the F*** will apple fix this god awful problem. I updated my iPhone to 5.01 at the end of October and since then my iPhone lasts 4 hours. Its practacly useless. I am constantly charging the phone but i can not even make it a full day. I go to work with a full charge by lunch time its dead and if i want to go out somewhere and use my phone and i do not have it charged its just a $200 useless peace of crap. I went to California in November and thank god i brought my car charger otherwise i would not have been able to find my way around LA.

It is now January so it has been 4 months since this issue has popped up. What is going on at apple. Why has this issue not been addressed and fixed.

I love apple products and i have forgiven apple in te past for shady crap like this. For instance when i had my 3g iPhone and i upgraded my operating system to the 4.0 the phone started runing slow. I figured it was a good time to upgrade to the iphone 4 but it was probably apples way of forcing me to upgrade.

I am truly frusterated with apple at this point. I have iphones ipads and ipods and i love apple but i can not live with a crappy phone. I do not want to get an upgrade to the 4s right now with the iphone 5 coming right around the cornor. I need an operating system that works and does not drain my battery.

DO SOMETHING ALREADY APPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This exact thing is happening to me when i upgraded my 32 GB Verizon iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1. My iphone lost about 10% of battery every 15 minutes. I was not doing anything that was really taxing on the battery, I was simply surfing the internet. My phone battery life isnt always this bad but when i upgraded to iOS 5 i noticed a significant drop in battery life.

I wish apple would let you downgrade your OS because of thing like this.

I have to say that I am very saddened by the lack of understanding by apple. They arent releasing any details or anything and just keep us in the dark, hoping we will all just learn to 'deal with it' probably. If this is not addressed soon, and by soon I mean when my contract is up in a couple months, then another phone and company will be getting my money this time around. Im tired of getting 5-6 hours of use from something that was getting 10-12 before. Its simply awful and has been since the day 5.01 came out.

1. They've obviously been working hard on it. In case you didn't read the news, they've already released an update to try to fix this and Apple engineers even personally contacted customers.

2. The iPhone 5 is not around the 'cornor' because (a) it's at least 8 months away (and probably much more) and (b) the iPhone 4s is the fifth iPhone, so it won't be called that either.

3. As noted before, they're trying. The problem is that not everyone has this problem (no pun intended). That makes it a lot harder ti diagnosed.

For everyone else bring the phone back to get a free replacement.

Ok macrobot

1) Who are you to reply to me the way you did. I hope you are not a apple employee because you have a lot to learn about customer service

2) How do you know they have been working hard. It has been several months since the 5.0.1 update was available. No update was sent out since and there is no update available now. I have not received any phone calls from apple. There is nothing in the news about this fix. I am sure they are working hard but from my end it does not look like it.

3) I know not all iPhone were effected (apparently yours is fine and your is all that matters). Well my iPhone was affected by this upgrade and I my phone is barely usable. It lasts only 4 hours. That is unexeptaple.

4) It would be nice for me to go to the apple store and get a new phone. But my warranty is up and I can not get a replacement phone. Not everyone's circumstances are the same as yours.

5). I know the next iPhone is not do out for awhile but I do not need to fork out more money to replace a phone that was obviously working before this god awful update was issue and then when the new phone comes out and having to buy that phone. But I also do not want to use up my upgrade discount.

Just keep in mind everyone's experiences are not the same as yours and I was using this forum to vent my issues with this crappy opperating system.

1. Who am I? I'm the person who was replying to your question. I addressed your points and that was it.

2. iOS 5.1 is around the corner. Dev releases just went out. And not everyone's getting contacted because that would take several years. But they're still making the effort.

3. My point was that it's hard because not every phone has the problem which means that they have to figure out why some are affected and some don't. You don't have to put the stuck-up "I'm the only one that matters" tone in my reply when that wasn't anywhere near my intentions.

4. I didn't realize that you had a 4 (not 4S) and apologize for that.
