5.01 made iPhone 4 battery life worse

The battery seems to be draining even faster after installing 5.01 than with 5.0. Is there some sort of hard reset or other voodoo I maybe missed in this process?

huh so get this, i know 100% that i downloaded the 5.0.1 upgrade through iTunes. I know this b/c i had to download all of my mp4's again and redo all of my folders and apps b/c of the new update. Well somehow my iPhone didn't recognize the update and Apple called me again this morning letting me know that my phone is still thinking that it's running 5.0. very strange!!! I have to speak w/ them this evening when i get home and have wi-fi and try to reinstall 5.0.1 again. so weird!!

After being a Blackberry user for a long time I finally decided to switch to an iPhone 4, which took a lot of persuading on my part. And Im beginning to regret it!!

I've had this phone 1 week and the battery life is absolutely appaulling. I left the battery on the phone to go right down and then charged it fully from there. i closed all my applications and have only been on a couple of times to check my Facebook. I took it off charge an hour ago and its already down to 85%?????

Ridiculous.

I'm having the same problem. My iPhone 4 was working great with IOS 5.0. Then 5.01 came out and my battery is lucky to last 3 hours. I went to the genius bar for help and the guy told me to try and reinstall the software, which I did. I'm still having the same problem. He told me it was a hardware issue if I was still having the same problem, which sounds like a lame excuse to me. This happened right after I installed Apple's poorly engineered update. This is irresponsible of Apple. If the update is not tried and tested then it should not be released, plus the fact Apple won't comment on a fix for this problem makes me upset.

Still having issues with battery life.I really don't use my phone that much.just a couple 3min calls, quick look at email, facebook for a few mins.,weather report ,and a few short text I only get 4 1/2 hours total usage everyday.Have just about cut everything off and scared to use it much for I don.t want to run out of battery before getting home from work. What should the total usage be at?

I've got exactly the same problem. Apple, please fix this. Why on earth these problems are occuring is beyond me. I'm massively frustrated by their failure to address the alert problem for ever and a day, even with transition to iCloud. This battery issue better not remain unsolved like the shared calendar alerts or I'm off to Android.

Like many others, I've been one of Apple's biggest supporters (I have a new Macbook Air, iMac, Macbook, iPad and an iPhone) and I've recommended Mac's into the enterprise as well as to personal friends which, I am sure like many others on this forum, has resulted in the purchase of many Apple products.

I am sure the others are feeling as hugely as frustrated by me in encountering these issues. Apple, don't ignore this because you will almost certainly begin to lose your loyal customer base.

Same problem here. Updated to 5.1. Started losing battery power very, very quickly. Turned off all notifications, wi-fi, web-sessions, etc. No change. Allowed battery to drain down to nothing...didn't help. Apple, we have a problem here!

I suffered the same thing, I could literaly watch the power drain away. I tried turning off wifi, bluetooth, 3G, push email, GPS and still it would lose 30% durning the night. What I did was "reset all settings" in "general Settings" this does not delete anything like doing a factory restore does in itunes so you don't lose any apps, music, videos, emails etc. When it boots back up it will ask you if you want to restore the phone "as a new phone" "from iTunes" or "from iCloud". Restore it as a new phone, don't worry you wont lose anything, you will have to choose a language, wifi, gps etc and the phone will return to default ringtones etc but it wont delete anything. Once you have done this run the battery down until the phone shuts down, then plug it in and leave it on charge all day or over night. Last night I went to bed with everything switched on apart from bluetooth the battery went down 3% over 8 hours.
