Hi everyone,

First, I haven't upgraded to 5.0.1, so your experience may vary. However, I too had incredibly degraded battery life when upgrading to 5.0 on an iPhone 4.

I was a MobileMe user, and had switched over to iCloud.

While on iOS 4, I'd get 12-14 hours battery life from the phone. Under iOS 5 I'd get 6-8 hours at best to absolutely shut-down flat.

Tried many things to see what the problem was, including the not-so-Genius Bar (move along folks, nothing to see here, we have no problem reported).

Switched off ALL iCloud functions, and all notifications. And I mean all. No emails getting pushed to the phone, no calendar updates, no find my phone.

It completely wrecks the usefulness of a smartphone, but I now get over 2 days between charges. At least I get to the end of the day and can still make phone calls (and I make quite a few).

I'm putting up with this until Apple sorts themselves out, but IMHO, the battery drain is with iCloud functionality (and app notifications). And I now have battery life to prove it. I haven't had an iPhone last this long ever (and I have been using iOS since version 2)

Hope you find this useful.

Cheers Stuart

This is my first iPhone. iOS 5 was bad for battery life. Definitely not seeing an improvement after upgrade to 5.0.1. It may be worse but I can't quantify. Maybe this issue is carrier dependent? I'm on sprin in the Chicago area. I Don't want to turn off location services, as some have suggested, because I don't want to give up the find my iPhone feature. I bought this phone because of Apple's history of consumer satisfaction. This is a bad first start if they can't, don't, or won't resolve soon.

This is the worst upgrade ever I also updated my phone last night and the battery doesn't last not even half a day it's 2 o'clock right now and I got to charge my phone again. Apple is a big company and this is a disgrace that so many people experience the same problem, they should take this more seriously and fix it but this time fix it for real cause the same problem was with 4G and now it's continuing on 4GS. I mean seriously what's the use of a phone that doesn't last not even a half a day then you better off with those cheap phones for like $30, at least you can use them all day with no problem. I am very disappointed with Apple and never expected this especially because I've been using them for quite a long time and I always considered them as a very reliable company but at this point I can't really say that. I hope they fix this problem ASAP cause there's no point in using a phone that has so many glitches and that is so unreliable!

The battery on my iPhone 4S was working perfectly fine with iOS 5 before the upgrade and I didn't really know what so many people were complaining about. I didn't think twice about applying the upgrade because I figured it would improve the battery life even further. Now that I have upgraded to 5.0.1 the battery life is absolutely terrible!!! I charged it last night to 100% and it's only 3:00 in the afternoon and my battery is at 32%. I answered 1 phone call which lasted for a total of 2 mins, 38 secs and replied to about 8 text messages and asked Siri to set a timer for 30 mins all of this in an area where I have all 5 bars and a full 3G signal.

This is soooo frustrating because if I knew the battery would get worse, I wouldn't have upgraded it. I had already turned off most of my location services and iAds and switched my push notifications either to off or to only send when I open that app. At this point there is nothing I can do to further improve things.

Apple please fix this ASAP, I swithced to the iPhone 4s from an Android phone so this is my first experience with an iPhone and after this I am not too happy about the switch. This certainly doesn't give me any reason to recommend this phone to anyone else. Please fix this soon because I really want to LOVE this phone and I can't love it if it constantly needs to be connected to a power source.

My iPhone 4S also has this problem! I will charge it a good 8 hours, then pull it off the iHome check my messages and facebook (using wifi) and it will be down to 91% Only used for maybe 10 minutes! I will leave for work, its in my pocket and get ther 45 minutes later 68% ***!!!! I pulled my iPhone 4 and 3GS out of my drawer and updated them to iOS 5. Then left them not used on the table for a day and checked them 24 hours later. The 3GS was down to 48% but the iPhone 4 was down to 98%! Not sure whats going on but it needs to be addressed! 😠

Same here. I downloaded 5.0.1 for my 4S and the battery is even worse than before. I had iOS5 on my 4 before I sold it and it wasn't draining as quick as the 4S. I also don't understand how people with the same phone and software are experiencing different problems. For me it's mostly a battery issue, for others it's the battery and other software glitches causing the phone to constantly lock up. Also, people I know with the white 4S aren't having as bad of battery issues as those with the black one. Did Apple rush this phone's production so quickly that some phones got bad batteries and hardware while others didn't? What happened to quality control? That used to be one of the reasons we spend enormous amounts of money on Apple products. R.I.P. Mr. Steve Jobs... I hope Apple can survive without you.

Hello APPLE!!!

Are you doing well????

Everything ok???

I suppose so when I see how many units you are selling!

And I also think you are so relaxed seeing all idiots buying your phones and spending hundreds of € or $ for something claiming to be top of the top!

USE 1$ FROM EACH SOLD UNIT AND PAY FOR A IOS THAT WILL NOT DRAIN OUR BATTERY WITH 2% PER **** MINUTE!!!!

I almost have to recharge after using the phone to write this message!

RESPECT YOUR CLIENTS AND ISSUE AN UPdate NOT A DOWNdate!

I wish all users having this iOS 5.0.1 battery problems will post here!

Have a nice day like you did it to me!
