After upgrading to 5.0.1 my iPhone is draining the battery even faster! Anyone else seeing this problem?
Listen up Dr. Phil... Please don't assure me or anyone of anything.. We get it, that's why we are reporting the issue here at the forum. After updating our phones are draining fast. Period. No one here wants read what you wrote, except perhaps customer care at Apple, and even they think what you wrote is ridiculous. I don't come on this board to read about having patience and that I should take time to learn the operation and the engine of a new phone, and blah blah blah. I'm here to state a problem or offer a solution. That's all. No one here needs a hug from you or a pep talk.
Prior to updating no problems after updating my phone to 5.0.1, battery problems. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see there is a problem but it most definitely takes a moron to post what you wrote and think anyone says to themselves, wow thanks Vic. I was worried but now I feel great.
Please don't tell me about sensing my frustration lol and from your 'personal experience' that this will be 'fixed soon'. Really it will be fixed, and this is from personal experience? Wow what a revelation. I feel so much better and all because based on 'Your Personal Experience' and yours alone, i feel so assured my phone will be fixed soon.
You will probably reply to this with a line such as..." OMG, sorry was just trying to be supportive in your time of need and difficulty with this wonderful and blessed product"
You should take a long walk off a short bridge. Trust me anyone who actually read your post hopes you do the same. Or go back to work, which is probably as an Apple tech.
Going to iOS 5.0.1 has been the wost thing I have done to any of the iPhones I have had. Started at 7:00 AM with 100% by the time I drove to work with no use I was in the mid 80's and now and with only about 30 minutes of music and a 30 minute call I am now in th high 20' at 2:45. This is rediculous
I updated my iPhone 4 from iOS 5 to iOS 5.0.1 and the battery issue just worsened.
My battery seems to be draining even without using the phone. Pandora and iHeartRadio uses up about 10% every hour.
Please fix this issue or give me a way to revert to iOS 5.
5.0.1 is broken bad.
just opened up my iphone 4S.
looks like they installed a tiny hampser on a wheel instead of a battery, and the hampster was dead
I had no battery issue but now I do with 5.0.1. It seems exceptionally bad when using a blue tooth device. Also, when i'm on the boarder of my wifi range things related to data don't work. You'd think the transistion at this stage in the game would be seamless!!!!!
I'd jump ship but i'm heavilly invested in itunes content. 😟
Having the same problem as others have noted. Battery life was bad, upgraded to 5.0.1 and it got worse. Had lunch with a firend who has an Iphone 4 and compared settings. Phones are set up the same, and my battery is draining at 3 times the rate his does. Talked to Verizon and all they could suggest was disabling lots of functions (which I already have). I did point out that turning the phone off does improve the battery life, but that wasn't exactly the reason I purchased it in the first place;)
Well what i'm doing now is that ive discharged by iphone 4 and now its charging im doing a full cycle charge (charge from 20% or below to 100%) i recommend this to everyone who is having a problem maybe this will solve it and now ive seen that the setting time zone locantion service arrow again lights up when you boot up your iphone .
is this happening to you too ?
Everyone with worse drain on iOS 5.0.1 on any device can you go to location services > system services, and enable "status bar icon" at the bottom and say if you constantly have the location arrow beside your battery %?
This is assuming all system location based services above on the same page are enabled.

The 4s is my first iPhone. I got it the day before the 5.0.1 fix was pushed out, so I can't say whether or not I had the issue before, but the battery definitely takes a beating during the day whether I'm doing anything or not.
The upgrade to 5.0.1 did not fix my battery issue.
Helpful History: I upgraded to 5.0 on October 12 (the release date). The battery performed well/normal until last week Monday (10/31). My App selection is varied, but I suspect one of the app updates may have triggered the issue on my phone. I've tried deleting apps, chaning settings, etc, with no luck.
Hoping for the .2 soon.
Wow, common problem. I have the iPhone 4S, no battery problems before the upgrade to 5.0.1 and now it drains when idle. I'm a light user and could go just about 48hrs between charges before the upgrade. All background apps closed and most location services disabled. Now I'm lucky to get four hours between charges. What?? I love the phone, but this upgrade created a problem that did not exist before. No bueno, Apple.
Hard for me to gauge whether battery is poor or not. I went to the 4S from an original Moto Droid that, despite buying a new replacement battery, would drain from full to dead within 4 hours.
Upgraded to 5.0.1 last night, took off charger, and it only lost 3% in about 7 hours overnight. Not trying to rub it in, but think this might be specific to a certain "batch" of phones... Maybe some people's got made by a tired 10 year old on his 12th shift hour @ Foxconn, whereas others had a well-seasoned veteran (13, perhaps).
One thing I have noticed is that certain calls dial on screen --timer going as though I'm connected -- and I can't hear a ringtone, person on other line (my mom), etc... Hang up and redial and it works flawlessly every time.
After upgrading, noticed that battery stays at 100 % for a long time, then drops rapidly. Still have to charge everyday with only moderate use.
Also, before and after update, phone shuts itself down a couple of times a day. Phone is then turned off and unable to receive calls. Have to manually check constantly to see that it's still on.
This is insane! This is my first iPhone, so I am not really sure what battery life should be, but I do know it was a lot better before this update! Now, I watch it drain 1% a minute when talking on the phone, which means, a hundred minutes usage before I have to recharge it, and this is on a phone that you can't swap out the battery, and that seems a bit insane! So someone tell me, I have 59 minutes said usage, and I am already, 86%, so is this normal for an iPhone! I have never owned one before, so I have no clue, but it did seem a lot better before this update! I only bought the iPhone, because I have an iPad, and the battery life was superior to anything that I had used before, but this kind of performance on a mobile phone, and one without a swappable battery seems a bit crippling, to say the least!!!
So sad. 4s - before 5.0.1 12 hours battery life, software updated yesterday, battery life 10 hours... No mail fetch, no wifi, 5 min call, 10 min on 3G.... So sad.
