After upgrading to 5.0.1 my iPhone is draining the battery even faster! Anyone else seeing this problem?
I unplugged my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) this morning and within just a few minutes of almost no use, it dropped 3% (from 100% to 97%). I just did a hard reset and my battery now reads 99%. Hopefully this is all that was needed. I had no complaints with my battery life running iOS 5.
>>Open Settings -> Location Services, scroll down to the bottom of the list and check the System Services. Turn off Diagnostics, iAds, Timezone.<<
These things were on but had not been accessed in the past 24 hours. I'm losing 1% of power every couple of minutes.
iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1.
So I am using a 3gs iphone with 5.0...I noticed some battery problems with the update 5.0...if the phone is on standby at night left on 100% in the morning it wil be 80% ...That *****....For you guys who was the battery issue just give a try to disable the 3G...I have location services on, push on a high level brightness...but now if I left the phone at 100% I will get in the morning maybe 98%...I know it is pointless to use to phone under EDGE not 3G but lets see is the problem comming from the 3G 🙂
No apps running. Not on 3G. No texting or messaging. No document transfers. Phone in sleep mode. Battery drains 1% every couple of minutes.
my 3gs now lose 1% in 3~4 min using wifi on internet facebook or viber i dunno why them said 5.0.1 will fix batt i think it getting bad :@
really we miss u steve RIP
My battery life is no better... I don't think its worse... Very frustrating
Even using a Mophie Juice Pack to double the battery and still get concerned that I won't make it to dinner with battery life....
So it seems that different peoples phones are being effected differently. My co-worker updated to 5.0.1 yesterday as well, and today his phone has been at 100% charge for the past 2 hours or so, whereas mine is dropping like crazy. The difference? He's running a 4, and I'm on a 4S. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.
I used to get out of work at 6:00pm with 60% of my battery left after heavy texting and a few calls. It's noon now and my phone is at 60% and I updated the iOS this morning. My first iPhone might be my last if this persists. ( I have until Monday to return it and go back to Android 😐)
Just updated to 5.0.1; usage 2 hours 39 mins, standby 2 hours 54 mins and my battery is on 55%! This is much worse than when I updated to 5.0! Please Apple, do something. Or if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to trying.
Since I updated to 5.0.1 my standby battery life seems to be better, only lost 5% while sleeping and getting a few emails (even have exchange on push), but now the battery drains a lot faster when I'm actually using my phone.
Think I'd rather have it the old way.
iPhone 4S
Usage: 2 hours
Standby: 16 hours, 22 minutes
Battery: 66%
Most of the use time is looking at a couple emails, facebook once or twice and a 37 minute phone call.
IOS 5.01, iPhone 4S
55% battery
Usage 2hrs 52min
Standby 16hrs 2min
Took it off the charger last night at midnight, starting using it at 10am this morning and it was at 96% (10hrs of standby). By noon it was 75% with some 3G data use only. I switched on every energy draining setting I can think of and started using it and this is where the battery is now. I feel that the standby is excellent, but the 3G data power consumption is a bit too high (96% -> 75% from 10am to 12:30pm).
I suspect it's the 3G data.
Got a 4S and updated to 5.0.1 this morning and battery is just as bad as before - makes no difference. Have got Location Services turned off but still the battery drains by 50% after about 10hrs on standby. Apple please sort this out - I see a recall on the cards!
1. Updated my 3GS to 5.0 and noticed degrade in battery life.
2. Updated to 5.0.1 and got terrible battery life - 3 hours from full charge - the phone was warm
3. Noticed someone said to turn of 'Push' for MS Exchange - did this and the phone cooled down and battery draw consumption has dropped considerably. This is the only change I made to the phone for testing purposes.
4. Too early to tell how much better, but it's been 15 minutes and it hasn't dropped any.
Hope this helps.
My 4S was doing quite well until the 5.0.1 update.
I updated the phone yesterday evening.
After unplugging the power cord this morning the phone almost directly dropped from 100 to 97%.
I can see the battery draining with 1% a minute when I working with the phone.
I always close apps after working with them (double tap the home button etc.).
I’ll bet Apple will issue another charger free of charge to patch this problem. Wait they did something like that already when problems occurred with the iPhone 4 and antenna problems. They issued bumpers. I just hope they offer an opportunity to return the phone again also.
I say this because like you all, my new 4s with 5.0.1 suffers battery performance.
