5.0.1 update--even worse battery life

Seems like an enternity my battery life is getting worst since I drained it !!! Like 3 percent drop in 10 mins !!!

maybe I should go back to the 4!

just so you know my iphone 4 has the same problem after applying upgrade to 5.0.1

So frustrating. Come on apple, Let's get a fix for this issue.

I'm running the 4G... Everything was fine up until 5.0.1. Now my phone makes it a half a day and I hardly run any apps.

Not to mention, since 5.0.1, I have apps that are failing.

Please send a fix soon!

I checked my battery times with my iPhone 4 with the 5.01 update:

87 hours standby and 7 hours and 14 minutes of usage.

I'm not seeing any problems with rapid battery drain that other people have been having.

When I upgraded my 4 to 5.0, I saw the battery life decline significantly. My 4S was fine on 5.0, but got distinctly worse on 5.0.1. I keep my phone connected to a charger when I'm at home or the office, so it's generally managable, but I can drain my battery by 30% in an hour or so without much difficulty at all. The inconsistency of this problem from user to user makes me wonder if we aren't looking both at hardware and software problems. Is it possible that there's some bad batch of batteries contributing to this? *sigh*.

The biggest problem I am having is now with my wife's 3GS, which goes down rapidly doing nothing.

Hey beauk, I have apps crash on me too, but wouldn't that be the developers responsibility. It just seems to the developers who need to keep updating their apps till these issues of force closing apps are resolved.

By the way, how do I unsubscribe this discussion? I don't know if its the stop "email notifications" located in the right column at the top. it would seem that would stop all notifications from site and obviously I don't want that. I saw a link to do this early on before this discussion got so abundant with posts. It simply said "unsubscribe this discussion" or something similar to that and now I don't see it.

Yeah ur totally right. The apps are the developers responsibility for sure. Comment was out of frustration cuz the 5.0.1 update really messed with the battery life so bad.

It's obvious that the next answer from the Apple Support will be that we all would need to buy the next hardware, better suit for the Firmware, or that our batteries need to be changed.

The truth is they are not even able to produce a firmware correctly.

Why do you think test plans exist ? And you dare call yourself Project managers ? Managers of what ?

Bad Firmware ? My iphone with 4.0.1 Firmware had a twice better battery than now.

You're expensive, controlling, not really open minded, and you don't even support a product correctly.

People, it's time to go for the competition. that will teach them a lesson!

Disclaimer: I am not tech savvy by any stretch of the imagination.

I have an iphone 4 (verizon) and after upgrading to ios 5.01 my battery life was practically non-existant. It was such a shock!! I was used to going days between charges. I tried most of the things that have been suggested: turning off practically everything that could even remotely drain a battery. Nothing seemed to help. Then I read about multi-tasking.

I double clicked the home button and saw all the things running in the background which included itunes. I made sure to get rid of all those things then I let the battery drain completely. (This wasn't difficult as by that time I was at 3% anyway). After recharging fully, the phone has been back to normal. In fact after charging to 100%, my daughter played angry birds for about an hour and I used the phone a few times (talking and texting). 24 hours later, the phone was at 97%.

I was ecstatic. In fact, my kids thought I was nuts because for days, I'd keep announcing how much battery life I had left on the phone. It was just so nice not to have to worry about whether my phone would last an 8 hour work day.

I don't know if this multi-tasking solution was real or just coincidental. Hopefully, it will help someone else.

A leader takes responsibility for the organizations actions. Where is Apple management on this?

Many of you know that Windows is the operating system in many new car dashboard displays and voice control. These systems can automatically update themselves. Now what if one of those updates caused the car battery to drain and stopped some cars -- would there be an outcry?

So many deep drains and full recharges on my iphone 4 over the past month cannot be good for battery life can it? Do you think we will get a break on early replacement of the bat?

I'd reckon that'll be one of the discussions going on in Apple. But if they admit there is a widespread problem then the lawsuits are sure to follow so
